Guys,

Good day to all! I'm a newbie here. I would like to know about your most favorite games nowadays. I love to play racing games a lot. What about you?

Thank you so much!

Candy Crush and Words with Friends online

I do envy/admire all of you game players out there. I have never enjoyed any games, even as a child. I dread it when friends or family bring out a pack of cards or a board game. I offer to go and do the washing up or walk the dog!

Don't know where this comes from as my Mum, Dad and brothers used to love a game or two and my DH played games with our children . I tried to join in but shuddered at the thought and was always glad when it was over
Is it the having to wait your turn? Is it the competitive spirit I lack?

Am I alone in this? I suspect not but would be glad of a recommendation of a game I could enjoy. I'll be checking out some of your suggestions in this thread

Candy crush

Odd socks. Just matching pairs of socks but its really addictive. You can join a team of people on the same level. Hate to tell you how much time i waste playing it!

@overthehill, Upwords was a firm favourite in our house growing up!

Scruples is a very good game, so is scrabble. I do not like monopoly though.

We like an American game called Mexican Train, which is played with double twelve dominoes. Great fun.

We have always played lots of children's games with the grandchildren. The 5 year old like Dominoes which surprised me. Monopoly and Cluedo still favourites.
For myself on the computer, Solitaire and Mah Jong, of which there are many variations. I even have a PROPER Mah Jong game where you play on the computer with three little pretend friends. It's just like playing a real game with real people. I think you can download something similar here:
Mahjong Time
If you're up for a challenge Mah Jong takes a lot of learning to start with, but is great once you have the knack of it.

We dug out the old Wii Sport games, bought years ago for grandchildren, and had great fun playing skittles, golf, table tennis, all sitting down as hubby has dodgy knees.

Nanananana1 you are not the only one who dislikes board games. I detest them and have done ever since I was a child. Possibly because my dad and sister were very good at them and very competitive. I particularly hated playing Monopoly with them.

Our family favourite board game is Sorry! It was DHs when he was a tot so it's at least 60 years old. But - the GSs and their pals love it, they will even put down their smartphones if I bring it out. Such is the appeal.

I see it's still available on line.

Not really into games, though we have a mancala board and a game called Strategy in the caravan which the other half and I play occasionally.
I did attempt to play a zoom escape room thing with some family elsewhere, but the connection kept freezing (I hate zoom/virtual meetings anyway), and I just couldn't get into what it was all about so excused myself before I fell asleep in front of the screen!

Aepgirl Fri 30-Apr-21 18:17:37

Scrabble and Rummicub.

Bakingmad0203 Fri 30-Apr-21 18:19:46

Nananananal Bluecat what a relief I’m not alone! I’ve always disliked board games, probably because I couldn’t remember the rules and always thought someone was cheating. Playing Monopoly I was always the first player to declare bankrupt. So not my ideal way of spending time with family or friends.

Valels Fri 30-Apr-21 20:55:18

OH and I play board and card games, favourites are Backgammon, Scrabble, Bezique, Cribbage, Canasta, Rummikub, Gun rummy. We're both really competitive so things can get quite lively!

Cards mainly, DS number 2 brought back a new one taught by sherpas after climbing Kilimanjaro, probably two years ago highly addictive none of us have stopped playing that one.
Also words with friends online.

LIKE Scrabble, both the traditional version and Classic Words on my tablet.
Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Tiddlywinks etc - all the simple fun games that are quick and don't go on for ever.
Bounce Off
Hungry Hippos
Jenga
Dominoes
Four in a Row. We also have a giant garden version which is fun.
Draughts, but can't play Chess.

DON'T LIKE Monopoly or Cluedo, they take too long.
Card games, my memory's too poor.
And I have absolutely no interest in computer games and games systems like Playstation etc. I think of them as kids games and really don't 'get' why grown men spend hours playing them, surely they could find something more useful to do!

I'm not very competitive and only play games for the fun of it not to win. Every Christmas someone would give me a games compendium but being an only child I didn't have anyone to play with. My Mum was always 'too busy'. She taught me seven card Rummy but when I beat her she wouldn't play anymore.

NannieDeb Sat 01-May-21 11:26:12

Yahtzee is a favourite here. Two or more can play and it’s a good one to play with kids too as it’s mostly based on luck.

Elvis58 Sat 01-May-21 21:33:13

Triominoes, three sided dominoes it keeps the brain matter going!

EllanVannin Sat 01-May-21 21:49:20

War Mahjong online. Patience with cards and also online.

Sorry!
We used to have such fun with that, I tried to buy it for the grandchildren, but it’s obviously no longer made.

Shinamae Sat 01-May-21 22:07:00
