Hello Again!?
Third thread here - too early for a Summer Time Special; especially considering the current weather ?️☔

Okay, here goes:
Who is your favourite comedian, and your least favourite?

biglouis Thu 15-Jul-21 01:11:32

Yes - many years ago. It turned out to be renal colic and I was only in 24 hours and then let go.

Do you ever binge watch on box sets?

I have recently gone through the whole of GOT, The Handmaids Tale and am now re-watching the Tudors.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 15-Jul-21 08:32:17

No, I'm too mean to buy a box set and I prefer the anticipation of waiting for the next episode.

Can you speak a foreign language?

henetha Thu 15-Jul-21 10:15:28

Schoolgirl French. Smattering of German. None fluently.

Have you ever had such bad indigestion that you think it might be a heart attack?

Mollygo Thu 15-Jul-21 10:17:47

Yes. I’d love to go on holiday to get a bit more use out of it.

Are you doing more face to face appointments now or are they still via phone or videolink.

biglouis Thu 15-Jul-21 11:06:39

Not needed anything so far although I have a home visit (mobility impaired) booked for a blood test. Both my vaccinations done by home visit.

Which subscription streaming services do you watch? I have Netflix/Amazon Prime and Now TV (which gives me a lot of the Sky stuff) plus all the Freeview lot.

travelsafar Thu 15-Jul-21 12:14:21

I have Amazon Prime but will subscribe to Netflix in the Autumn and Winter months.

What is your favourite Radio Program

hollysteers Thu 15-Jul-21 20:14:12

In Our Time, Melvyn Bragg

Do you still use/have old fashioned bone handle knives?

Savvy Thu 15-Jul-21 22:54:47

I have two, one is a butter knife and the other a small bread knife. The bread knife I remember from my childhood, I'm not sure how I got the butter knife.

Are you a good gardener?

Kim19 Fri 16-Jul-21 06:10:53

I'm a happy gardener. Don't always know plant names but I've fair success in sustaining perennials and the whole place gives me pride, comfort and joy.

What are you most looking forward to right now?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 16-Jul-21 08:15:27

To answer henetha's question about indigestion - not a heart attack as such, but after one Christmas I had such bad indigestion due to over-indulgence I thought I might explode.

I'm looking forward to finishing a jumper I'm knitting and just hope that it is actually wearable.

Did you have a favourite teacher at school?

Billybob4491 Fri 16-Jul-21 08:17:42

Yes her name was Mrs Price she was an English Teacher.

Have you done anything exciting this week?

FannyCornforth Fri 16-Jul-21 08:20:38

Mrs Ruth Stott
It would be amazing if she was on here! She was my last teacher before I went to secondary school.
She had a daughter called Antonia and came from where Catherine Cookson came from (can’t remember where; my memory is appalling).
When she was a little girl she used to swim in Cookson’s swimming pool, she let all the local children do this.
I know that I was her favourite too! She was lovely

Same question - did you have a favourite teacher?

Mollygo Fri 16-Jul-21 08:46:03

Yes. Mr Richardson. Following a clever brother up the school and being told my German, tech drawing, and geography was not as good as his by various teachers it was a thrill to hear from Mr R that my French was excellent and I should take it at Uni.

Any more favourite teachers?

biglouis Fri 16-Jul-21 12:29:37

Mr Copestake, my headmaster who also taught me French. He was an inspirational headmaster, well ahead of his time, who believed that children should not be written off just because they failed 11 plus. He arranged a bursary to pay for my trip to Paris because my parents could not afford it. He was later my referee for 2 jobs. In my 20s I met someone who knew him and was able to pass on my appreciation for all he had done.

Did you have a teacher whom you disliked or who bullied you?

At age 10 I was bullied by a head teacher into admitting to something I had not done. The experience altered my life and personality.

BBbevan Fri 16-Jul-21 13:48:46

Yes , when I went to grammar school, the PE teacher told me not to speak in that silly way. I had a Welsh accent.

Does or did your DH like cooking? Mine does but he always seems to start at the wrong end of a recipe !

nanna8 Fri 16-Jul-21 14:30:42

Not really. He uses recipes to the nth degree and can’t improvise.

Do you have a favourite perfume ?

DanniRae Fri 16-Jul-21 15:48:46

Yes, Jo Malone "Grapefruit"

Do you enjoy hot weather - I enjoy it as long as I can sit in the shade - I hate the sun beating down on me

crazyH Fri 16-Jul-21 17:00:00

No - right now I’m upstairs on my bed, ceiling fan spinning away.

Does this weather affect your appetite? Not feeling hungry at all!!!

henetha Sat 17-Jul-21 09:39:57

Yes, it does. All I want is salad, mostly.

Do you change your car very often? Part exchange, or a deal with a showroom?

Mollygo Sat 17-Jul-21 10:02:54

Less frequently nowadays. Deal with a showroom-usually DC or now DGC are wanting to make an offer.

Have you thought about an electric car or a hybrid?

biglouis Sat 17-Jul-21 10:46:09

No because I dont drive. So I will have to wait until the fully driverless ones are available!

Do you enjoy food shopping?

I absolutely hate it and have all groceries delivered.

hollysteers Sat 17-Jul-21 18:23:21

I don’t mind food shopping as I like to rummage for the last use by date and it’s brought a bit of normality into my life after lockdown.

Do you prefer the company of a chatty or quiet person?

Savvy Sun 18-Jul-21 02:23:52

I think it depends on the mood I'm in and what the chatty person has to say. Sometimes a nice in-depth conversation is great, but sometimes just sitting quietly is needed.

Do you use warm sunny weather as a reason to do less?

Billybob4491 Sun 18-Jul-21 08:43:04

No not really very much a creature of habit.

Will you be discarding your mask tomorrow?

BBbevan Sun 18-Jul-21 09:24:28

Nope and not for a while yet. We live in Wales, the easing of restrictions are not so ‘gung ho’ as England.
