Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

crazyH Thu 14-Oct-21 14:39:38

Now that’s clever - we know your real name now !!

Credit right away zorro your house!

BBbevan Thu 14-Oct-21 14:38:44

Best remember if or not yet

Do you watch ‘Walter presents’ or any other foreign television?

hollysteers Thu 14-Oct-21 14:32:23

I used to have a very bad case of flying phobia, very extreme and would have terrible panic attacks. Over it now and my daughter is a long haul cabin crew/manager!

Spell your name, but for each letter press the first word that comes up on predictive text (very as lovely every round in everything)

FannyCornforth Thu 14-Oct-21 12:50:30

Question - no you have a ‘proper’ phobia? Or know someone who has?

FannyCornforth Thu 14-Oct-21 12:49:29

Oh I’ve had this one before!
Yes - by one of these fellas.
A black slip wasp.

biglouis Thu 14-Oct-21 12:42:32

Havnt seen any wasps. Had a big bee buzzing around my kitchen in summer but it eventually found its way out.

Have you ever been stung by an insect?

I was stung on the lip by a wasp as a child and have always neen nervous of things that sting. Spiders and beetles dont bother me.

henetha Thu 14-Oct-21 11:10:20

"When shows break up, what but oneself is sure?". I like that. We all have to stand on our own feet eventually.
(it's by Walt Whitman).

I haven't seen any wasps this year. Amazing. Have you?
Any problems with them, if so.?

hollysteers Thu 14-Oct-21 09:46:26

I was lying in bed at night reading a few weeks ago and felt something crawling around in my nightdress, jumped out of bed and it was a ladybird! Apart from that no.

Do you have a favourite motto you repeat to yourself?
(Mine is Everything Passes)

AGAA4 Thu 14-Oct-21 08:29:22

No but I am an avid reader so I will certainly give it a try.

Have you seen many ladybirds around? I had lots on my windows recently

Mollygo Thu 14-Oct-21 08:20:33

Yes I use self service tills. It’s been easier since Sainsburys have a phone app-but using that means my phone doesn’t record paces and I used to walk over half a mile from car to car. Asda’s handheld is good, but I always seem to get the ‘baggage check’.
The manned tills are always crowded in both shops.

Do you use an online library like Bookbox?
It’s saved me a fortune.

I look forward to Christmas as I go to my sister's after a light lunch. I get off lightly when it comes to all the preparations as I live alone and we've stopped buying big presents. I prepare a quiz and make an edible prize for the winners. I just get there (short drive) and put on a smile.

Do you use the self-service tills in shops? Are you adept or do you curse them?

AGAA4 Wed 13-Oct-21 16:29:49

No just very ordinary photos. It would have been fun though!

Do you love Christmas or dread it?

biglouis Wed 13-Oct-21 13:54:18

When I was in my 20s I had my hair dyed black because I hated the mousy colour. Later I had it dyed auburn and kept it that colour til I went gray. Its a nice even gray now so I no longer colour it.

Have you ever posed for "exotic" or unusual photographs?

When I was in my 20s I had a series taken as Cleopatra by a group of amateur photographers. This was following on from the Liz Taylor film of same name when I had a Cleopatra hair cut. The costumes were sometimes scanty (but not nude) and very tame by todays standards.

ginny Wed 13-Oct-21 13:12:09

Not any more. Stopped about 5 years ago. Never regretted it. I do however have a yearning to have some subtle pink highlights put in.

So , my question is…
Have you ever had a try really different or drastic done to your hair ?

BBbevan Wed 13-Oct-21 11:06:36

No my feet are fine, I think, as they are quite far away now.
Just to reply to the other question. Nana Mouskouri. But my hair is grey now.

Do you dye your hair.? I used to henna mine many moons ago

henetha Wed 13-Oct-21 10:55:29

When I was in my late teens someone said I looked like Princess Margaret. I basked in the glow of that inwardly for years! Eventually realising that it was not true.
Three different people have said that I look and sound like
Wendy Craig, especially as she was in Butterflies. Sort of vague.
Have you got good feet? Do you have a regular foot treatment? A chiropodist? Have you got corns, bunions etc.?
My feet are the worst in the world. No-one is allowed to see them.

FannyCornforth Wed 13-Oct-21 10:31:20

Oh Holly, I bet that you’ve got very good hair!
When I was in my early 20s I was the spitting image of Sinead O’Connor. I was often mistaken for her. Notably by the actor who played Dr Findlay (David something) in the remake in the 90s. When he realised that I wasn’t Sinead, he was really rude to me.
And someone chased me down the street thinking I was her.
Now that Sinead and I have both put on loads of weight, we still look very similar. But I’ve got hair now, I’m very happy to say.
I also look a bit like Julian Clary (facially)

Same question!

hollysteers Wed 13-Oct-21 10:20:56

Birds and squirrels, but we are in an area for red squirrels and it’s nice to see them.

Do you resemble anyone well known?
(Jane MacDonald for me apparently ?)

biglouis Tue 12-Oct-21 13:19:49

I like the small birds like sparrows and robins. Magpies are handsome but they bully the smaller birds out of the way.

Do you have any creatures (apart from birds and squirrels) that visit your garden?

I have urban foxes that live in the business park behind where there are thick scrubby trees and undergrowth. I always feed them in winter. They like cat food!

AGAA4 Tue 12-Oct-21 11:58:52

'Sod 70' by Dr Muir Gray. This book inspires me to look after myself better.

Do you like birds and which ones do you like best?

hollysteers Tue 12-Oct-21 11:36:24

I hardly ever send parcels. I will use Amazon or EBay.

The book right next to you is the only book you can read for the rest of your life. What is it?
(Edith Wharton ‘The Reef’)

henetha Tue 12-Oct-21 10:52:43

Yes I have. I am thinking of changing it though.

Do you still send parcels abroad for Christmas, - or at any time really? It's getting expensive isn't it. If so, are you thinking of stopping?

BBbevan Tue 12-Oct-21 10:31:28

Our is in thirds. One third between our 2 DGDs , one third to DS and one third to DD.

Have you made a will?

crazyH Tue 12-Oct-21 10:26:35

I like the grace and elegance of ballet, what little I’ve seen on TV. Never had the chance of seeing it live.

Will you be dividing your estate equally between your children, or do you feel one of them should get more and why?(Dont answer, if you feel it’s too intrusive)

BBbevan Tue 12-Oct-21 09:46:04

I like making bread, so might have a bakery. Thing about bakeries is you start afresh everyday. No in tray , jobs pending etc.

Do you like ballet.? We saw Matthew Bournes Swan Lake some time ago. Utterly brilliant
