Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

Mollygo Sun 27-Feb-22 17:01:10

Yes if I’m awake, or it’s loud enough to wake me, I’ll peek out of the window or I’ll sneak out and look over the bannister.
My only weapon is an electric fly swatter bat though.
Is there anything you wish you could resist doing? I wish I could resist seeing a bright sunny morning at 06:30 as a reason to get up and put washing on!

BBbevan Mon 28-Feb-22 04:32:21

I try very hard to keep my carb consumption down. But DH loves crisps, cake etc. so we have it in the larder. I try not to nibble at any of it. Not successful often.

Do you like fresh flowers in the house? We are awash with daffodils at present

FannyCornforth Mon 28-Feb-22 04:57:06

Same here! And they smell beautiful too! They don’t last long though, sadly

Share some words of wisdom.
I am in need of them!

BBbevan Mon 28-Feb-22 05:59:27

Oh dear , why Fanny ?
I think I go by “All things shall pass.* any help?

Please share any word of wisdom you have , ladies and the occasional gentleman

AGAA4 Mon 28-Feb-22 10:33:32

I always tell myself that I have got through so many things and I will get through
more. We are stronger than we think.

Same question please.

DanniRae Mon 28-Feb-22 12:01:06

I like "Life is how it is and not how it should be" and from my darling mum "Least said soonest mended"

Same question please

hollysteers Mon 28-Feb-22 14:48:57

Would you fight for your country?

BBbevan Mon 28-Feb-22 18:11:13

Absolutely I would.

If you were the right age and you could choose, which of the services would you pick.?

biglouis Tue 01-Mar-22 03:21:47

There is no way I would fight for that gang of over privilaged millionaires in whitehall. I would be more likely to put bullets into them. Sometimes it takes more courage to refuse to fight!

Do you follow the Ukraine situation on the news or try to forget about it as being too depressing and something you cant control?

FannyCornforth Tue 01-Mar-22 06:56:40

Ukraine - A mixture of both following and trying to forget

Forces - The Navy. I’m hoping that there are plenty of opportunities for no actual fighting.
There no way that I could do anything to do with flying. And the Army seems too much like hard work and relies on a very high level of fitness.
The thought of anything like that fills me with utter dread.

Thank you for your wise words.
I hope that I am stronger than I think

If you were a boxer; or a snooker player or whatever, what music or song would you come on to? ?

BBbevan Tue 01-Mar-22 07:13:15

Do you wanna be a boxer? ….from Bugsy Malone

Do you ever alter your own clothes? I’m awful at sewing so have to take them to a lovely lady

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 01-Mar-22 09:51:59

Sewing is my first love and being a short-arse I've often had to alter things, especially the length of trousers. Nowadays I often find them in the right size more easily thank goodness, as it saves me a job.

Do you often find yourself using slightly old-fashioned words like 'nowadays'? Can you think of any others you use?

hollysteers Tue 01-Mar-22 10:28:00

‘Methinks’ is one for me.

Where are you travelling to in your current novel?

AGAA4 Tue 01-Mar-22 10:28:03

I know my language is different in some ways from my GCs. They say movie and I say film. I do say nowadays too.

If you had a windfall of £100 what would you buy?

henetha Tue 01-Mar-22 11:48:43

Top of the list of things I need to buy is a new oven. So I would put it towards that. Or, - if I'm not in the mood to be so sensible, a lovely new pair of shoes and a Kipling handbag.

Do you like things toasted, other than toast itself? I like crumpets and often have them at breakfast. Also muffins and bagels.

BBbevan Tue 01-Mar-22 14:05:32

Tea cakes, hot cross buns with loads of butter.

I saw on another thread this morning that we should not cut our hedges between March 1st and Sept 1st, for the birds.
Do you have lots of hedging ? We have do.. If we don’t cut it we won’t be able to get down the garden.

Mollygo Tue 01-Mar-22 16:33:25

We have hedging at the end of the garden. It’s fun to watch the birds flit in and out.

When you say your username aloud does it sound strange? I wish I’d not added go to mine. I keep noticing one quite new poster’s name that sounds like a woman’s body part

BBbevan Tue 01-Mar-22 17:36:54

I’m not keen on mine . I think it sounds severe.

We live near the sea and the roads are already being clogged by caravans. Do you have anything similar where you live?

hollysteers Tue 01-Mar-22 21:50:27

We have cars parking on the beaches near me, that gets pretty busy and the surrounding roads too.

Where are you travelling to in your current novel?

nanna8 Tue 01-Mar-22 22:01:58

It’s actually set in Bristol which is a heck of a long way from where we are.

If you could only visit one country for a holiday, which would it be ?

Nana3 Tue 01-Mar-22 22:16:43

Definitely Italy, don't mind which part.
Are you decisive or a ditherer?

Shinamae Tue 01-Mar-22 22:18:46

Canadian Rockies

I have curtailed my watching of the news are you still watching it too much?

biglouis Tue 01-Mar-22 22:26:25

Ive stopped watching it and just do a quick summery on my tablet on the bBC website. Far too depressing.

Do you (or have you) intend to make any contribution to the Ukranian chrisis?

I contributed towards providing humanitarian aid as I am strongly against our getting involved in the military sense.

BBbevan Wed 02-Mar-22 09:59:06

Yes we have a collection place near and I took a big bag of things yesterday. I would like to take a big umbrella with a poisoned tip for someone to stick in Putin. I feel so very sorry for Ukraine.

On a more cheerful note Sainsburys delivery is due with my one weekly cake. Apple turnover this week.
Do you have a favourite cake?

AGAA4 Wed 02-Mar-22 10:04:37

Lemon drizzle at the moment but I do like quite a few types of cake.

What is your at home style of dress. I am wearing denim jeggings and a thigh length jumper. So comfortable.
