Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

AGAA4 Wed 29-Dec-21 14:00:14

No I never have felt that. There are people I admire but I wouldn't want to be them.

If you had one wish for 2022 what would it be?

henetha Wed 29-Dec-21 11:00:48

Difficult to have a favourite, there are so many, but I have always liked Lowry. And David Hockney. Banksy is clever.
And Monet's garden paintings.
And Anthony Gormley's sculptures.

Do you ever wish you had been born someone else?
If so, who?

BBbevan Tue 28-Dec-21 17:13:58

No we are usually in bed by eleven.

What is your favourite artist ( painting, sculpture etc) ?

Mollygo Tue 28-Dec-21 16:43:52

Sorry, forgot a question so I’m just going to repeat hollysteers question.

Mollygo Tue 28-Dec-21 16:43:00

Yes but in a different way now. We used to enjoy going out and celebrating with friends and neighbours. Now we enjoy New Year because the grandchildren come round to sleepover and say, “Please may we stay up to see the New Year in instead of going to bed early?” So we stay up, have festive nibbles and watch the fireworks and the celebrations that have gone on round the world. On the stroke of midnight we go out and exchange New Year good wishes with our neighbours and then have a lie in on New Year’s Day.

hollysteers Tue 28-Dec-21 14:36:44

No, I was strangely glad when autumn came in. The sun makes me feel I should be out doing outdoorsy things and this summer covid still around, after an active 2020 I couldn’t be bothered.

Do you enjoy New Year celebrations?
(I don’t)

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 28-Dec-21 11:50:59

I feel ambivalent about next year - I fear it's likely to be more of the same. For me personally there'll be hurdles I must tackle and I'm not looking forward to them.

Does dreary weather make you feel dreary too?

henetha Tue 28-Dec-21 11:03:00

I don't have a big family, so get togethers are always small.
Two adult grandchildren on Christmas eve.
One son and his partner on Christmas day.
Other son, recently divorced, on Boxing day.

Are you optimistic or pessimistic about 2022?

biglouis Mon 27-Dec-21 17:50:22

Ive always had a TV even from the time I left home although it was only a hired one.

Did you enjoy big family get togethers or a quiet time with just immediate partner/DCs?

I went to my nephew from Christmas eve and came back Boxing Day afternoon. He normally has a flatmate but he went away so there was a spare bed. We just had a quiet time, played with the cat and watched films.

NotAGran55 Mon 27-Dec-21 15:09:01

Minimalist here. I can’t bear clutter or mess .

Have you ever NOT had a television?
I didn’t for 2 years from the age 20 when I left home and lived alone. Too busy working and going out having a good time ?

hollysteers Mon 27-Dec-21 11:45:23

A nutribullet to replace my clapped out version.

Are you a maximalist or minimalist regarding furniture and soft furnishings?
(Maximalist)

henetha Mon 27-Dec-21 10:35:53

Yes, I do. I like the quiet time between Boxing Day and New Year. It's still Christmas.
I can eat leftovers, catch up with recorded tv programmes, chill out and just relax after all the hectic hoo-haa. And no shopping for ages now thank goodness.

Did you get any exciting gifts? Anything that you really wanted?

FannyCornforth Mon 27-Dec-21 10:25:24

MollyI hope not! I’ve definitely got to make a concerted effort to buy much less stuff. My house is bursting at the seams.
However, this year is going to be about big things - an all singing, all dancing bed for DH and his definitely non all singing / dancing back; a conservatory (joy and dread in equal measure); and a mobility scooter

Ginny all of my clothes are of the floppy variety; I’ve got it down to a fine art - floppy luxe (basically leggings and a nice loose dress and cardi, plus jewellery)

Do you still consider the time between Christmas and New Year to be ‘Christmas’? I do, I like to make it last.

Mollygo Mon 27-Dec-21 09:12:34

FC we’ve enjoyed Carols from Kings, White Christmas, University Challenge and my secret guilty pleasure, Mrs Brown’s Boys. We’ve hardly had the TV on because of visits or visitors, some of which have involved long walks in the fresh air (freezing cold) and ice skating with my granddaughter???!!!
Those meet-ups include the special moments you mentioned BBbevan.
Will you be buying stuff in the sales, on-line or in store? I can’t think of anything I actually need apart from a new bra!

ginny Mon 27-Dec-21 09:06:09

Luckily for me, several. Of course the luckiest was being able to see the family.

Anyone ever have a lazy day and stay in night clothes or what I call ‘ floppy’ clothes all day ?
Rare for me but I am today. What a rebel !

BBbevan Mon 27-Dec-21 08:59:21

We haven’t had the TV on for 3 days. DS and family have been hear and we haven’t seen them fof over 2 years so it has been chat, chat, chat.

Any special moments over Christmas?

FannyCornforth Mon 27-Dec-21 06:52:18

Let’s get this show back on the road! smile
Hope that everyone had a pleasant Christmas

What have you enjoyed on TV over the past few days?

Poppyjo Fri 24-Dec-21 19:06:56

Boiled bacon and pork pie with toast and brown sauce. Yum. We always had this at home on Christmas Day

ginny Fri 24-Dec-21 17:24:59

Pancakes.

What will you have for Christmas Day breakfast ? Mine will be the same as most other days.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 24-Dec-21 14:00:46

This is very obvious - apparently there's a dish called 'Nottingham Pudding' which contains apples. I've never tried it.

Same question again please.

BBbevan Fri 24-Dec-21 13:03:56

Cockles

Same ? Please

Mollygo Fri 24-Dec-21 11:44:11

Cheese (not cheddar) and fairly mild taste.
I can think of one shrimps place, but may not be right.

I’d like to know more-same question again, if that’s OK?

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 11:09:50

Too late, sorry Hollysad
I’m not sure about shrimps… I’ll have to have a think

Pork scratchings - where I’m from

Brilliant question Holly: same one pleasegrin

hollysteers Fri 24-Dec-21 11:07:43

No more Xmas pics for me please, but Happy Xmas everyone,

Name a food which gives a clue to where you live.
(Shrimps)

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 09:26:57

Hello and happy Christmas Diane, I haven’t noticed your name before grin
No, no stocking. I’ve got a garland and other bit and bobs on my mantle piece though

Do you think that we should have another thread of Christmas pictures?
I know that Josiann started a pets one, and there was a Christmas tree one, but it isn’t very high profile.
What do you think ?
