Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

Christmas Eve but a friend in America made me smile when she sent an email with happy Christmas and a happy Boxing Day - she loves our Boxing Day.
Do you hang a Christmas stocking up

BBbevan Fri 24-Dec-21 09:14:03

Boxing Day ……rest

I have already laid the table for supper tonight. I am always impatient to get things done. Anyone else like that?

AGAA4 Fri 24-Dec-21 08:47:24

Running down the stairs (running at my age!) to open the door to someone carrying a heavy load I slipped and went hurtling down landing in an undignified heap on the hard floor at the bottom. I was very bruised and lucky to have not broken anything.

Which is your favourite day Christmas Eve or Boxing Day?

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 07:16:49

What was the daftest stupid accident that you have had?
I’m currently nursing a scalded hand; but when I was about 14, I somehow managed to shut my head in my dad’s car door confused

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 07:14:51

Tippler, not tipper!

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 07:14:29

Merry Christmas to you too nanna8!
I am a bit of a tipper (bit of an understatement!)
I am actually going to enjoy some chilled sherry today, and will probably engage with Mr Bailey’s finest tomorrow.
When I socialised a few years ago, I would regularly make my own Baileys to take to get togethers; it was even better than the shop stuff.

nanna8 Fri 24-Dec-21 07:01:15

Merry Christmas, Fanny and everyone!?

nanna8 Fri 24-Dec-21 06:59:41

Not Christmas Eve, more Boxing Day. Christmas Eve I am usually stuffing the turkey and setting the table ready for Christmas Day.

What is your favourite Christmas tipple ?

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Dec-21 06:29:01

No

Do you have a Christmas Eve tradition?
I don’t, but I’m determined to be as Christmassy as possible for the next few days, as I’ve been quite ill and fed up recently

Mollygo Thu 23-Dec-21 18:00:25

Only when I’m on holiday and have someone to share it with.

Do you have a carbon monoxide tester anywhere in your house?

BBbevan Thu 23-Dec-21 14:12:45

I don’t mind both. But sometimes it is nice to go somewhere and have everything done for you.

Do you still have things like a half a grapefruit for breakfast?

hollysteers Thu 23-Dec-21 11:34:04

To be a hostess or visitor

hollysteers Thu 23-Dec-21 11:33:02

Earl Grey tea, good shower gel and manuka honey.
My sister said “I can’t hand you a packet of tea for Christmas!”?

Do you like to a hostess or visitor?
(Visitor)

Ali08 Wed 22-Dec-21 19:07:35

No. I actually haven't had a holiday, as such, since I lived with my parents.
But I used to take my children up north to visit their grandma.

Were you asked what you'd like for Christmas gifts, and if so what did you say?

AGAA4 Wed 22-Dec-21 17:18:13

Almost all my presents were bought online this year. I don't enjoy busy shops any more.

Have you been on holiday alone?

Billybob4491 Wed 22-Dec-21 16:50:26

BB That is something I would never do.

Have you bought any Christmas presents online this year or did you hit the High Street instead?

BBbevan Wed 22-Dec-21 16:42:44

I have never minded being on my own, but I have DH and we get on well. We quite enjoyed the lockdown. Early morning walks, then home to jigsaws, family tree research, a bit of writing.Quite happy with that.
Have you researched your family history?

biglouis Wed 22-Dec-21 16:08:43

I was listening to a talking head from Iceland a couple of days ago who said they had so much food in the store they were offering packs of frozen veg for 1p. Struck me as ironic aty a time when so many people are complaining of shortages. To be fair it was only a 1 day/online only offer.

If you went a complete day without seeing or talking to anyone (ie no one knocked or rang you) would you feel lonely and miserable or glad because you could get on without interruptions?

I live alone and am always really glad of a day without uninvited callers or deliveries.

My mum made the most fabulous sausage rolls.

I've got a clock in almost every room of the house which is a bit of a faff when they have to be changed twice yearly.

Which is the best quote/headline you've ever read? Recently in a interview with Howard Blake (composer of Walking in the Air, amongst many others) he said, "I make sure I always have at least £1m in the bank" which I found amusing. Chance would be a fine thing!

FannyCornforth Wed 22-Dec-21 10:53:34

Hope that you are okay now Molly thanks

AGAA4 Wed 22-Dec-21 10:16:24

As I live on my own I don't do much baking but I used to love making all sorts of things for my family when they were younger.

Do you have many clocks around the house?

henetha Wed 22-Dec-21 10:12:49

Yes I have and they were marvellous. I lost the sight in one eye. It was a mini stroke (but I didn't know that at the time.) The hospital were waiting for me when I arrived and had every test you can think of.

Do you make your own sausage rolls?

Mollygo Wed 22-Dec-21 09:58:28

Toasted sandwiches? Spread a layer of mincemeat on top of cheese or ham and slip it into a toastie bag, unless you have a sandwich maker. I haven’t tried it but it must be a bit like chutney.

Have you used NHS111 online?
I had to, late last night, and got a call to attend out of hours within an hour (they told me it would be within 6 hours).

FannyCornforth Wed 22-Dec-21 07:21:51

Better welfare standards for farm animals. Put up the price of meat etc

What can I do with my Christmas mincemeat now I haven’t got any pastry to make mince pies?

biglouis Wed 22-Dec-21 00:54:06

I dont bother much with makeup but lipstick!

If you were Prime Minister tomorrow what would you do?

I would bring in an immigration policy like Australia
