Hello All! ? ?
I’ve tried to be more grammatically correct with the title this time.
Do you enjoy musical theatre?
??
Which is your favourite?
I love Jesus Christ Superstar; Cabaret; Oliver!; Sweeney Todd; Oklahoma
I could go on and on…
No but it might be a good experience.
Do you ever feel you want a complete change from your usual routines?
Yes I still have and use a cookery apron that I made at school .
Have you ever been up in a hot air balloon ?
I like the idea of it but can’t bring myself to do it.
I have the curtains almost closed in the south facing rooms and keep the patio doors ajar if there's a bit of a breeze, but it's still difficult to get comfy. I run cold water over my wrists which cools me and drink lots of tea.
Do you still possess any hand-made items which you made at school as a child? I have a needle case made of felt with embroidery on it.
I shut all the curtains and blinds and moved around the house to find the coolest room. I swapped bedrooms as mine was too hot & got up a couple of times in the night and just stood in a cool shower for a few minutes. I kept the dog cool with an old damp towel & walked him at 7am & 9pm. Drank lots of iced drinks & basically did b….r all till it had cooled down.
What is your favourite season and why.
I do it when I feel like it - no particular schedule.
How did you keep cool on the recent very hot monday/tuesday?
I run a business so did anything I needed to do at night/early morning and slept from 12-6 each day with a big fan on.
Yes we are having fish and chips this evening. Not for any religious reason, I just can’t be bothered to cook.
Do you change your bed, weekly, fortnightly, or just when you feel like it?
At a three hour stopover in Dubai there was absolutely no place to sit down, the few seats were taken, and people were lying all over the floor, so much that it was difficult to walk through.
And then, horror of horrors, at I tried to board the plane they took my passport away and I had to sit in a cordoned off seat area for 20 minutes. When they returned my passport I asked why and was told sharply to "Board the plane, madam". I never found out why they did this.
It's Friday. Does anyone still eat fish on Friday?
Ive done many miles by coach and landrover when I was younger but never a long journey by train so that would probably be my choice. More faciolities such as a loo and buffet car without having to stop.
Which is the worst airport you have ever had to stop or change flights at?
My vote would be Delhi. Absolutely chaotic. And the queues even at 3 am! I decided to be cheeky and go through the "official/dipomatic" bay as my passport has my academic title. I was going to tell them I was a guest of the Indian government on a lexcture tour. They just waved me through!
Yes, I knit a lot now. Used to do a lot of embroidery and patchwork but I am so short sighted that I can’t do it well now so have given it up.
If you had to travel a long distance 200 miles eg. How would you choose to travel.? Me? By coach or train, to look out of the window and dream
He would have to be someone who would be happy living nearby, would not moan about jobs I needed doing and would take me out to plush restaurants and the theatre. Yes definitely a fantasy man!
Do you enjoy crafts?I used to like embroidery but haven't done any for ages.
No, I've grown used to my independence after 12 years of widowhood which, although it wasn't how I expected my life to pan out, has its small compensations. I answer to nobody.
If you did marry again, who would be your fantasy groom?
I have vowed never to marry again, but if I did I would wear a dress and possibly a matching jacket, depending on the time of year, and it would have to be pink. Not a silly pink, but something subtle and appropriate. And kitten heels.
Would you ever get married again?
Very unlikely now but I would wear a long floral cotton dress with ballerina type shoes in a colour from the dress.
Same question please.
Oh - question needed!
If you were getting married; what would you wear?
Not really inspirational, but memorable.
I absolutely loved my last teacher at middle school.
Her name was Mrs Ruth Stott. I’d love it if I found her on here! I think that she loved me too.
I was a very good hard working and talented girl at the time (it all went downhill after that!)
My maths teacher at secondary school was wonderful.
Her name was Ginnie Bashford.
I was terrible at maths, but she worked incredibly hard to get me over the GCSE line.
My A level English teacher was Frank Skinner (he was Chris Collins then).
He was also our neighbour.
He’s quite memorable!
I agree with Jay Blades. Isn’t it annoying that the BBC in
particular , take up with someone and then they are on everything. I also get annoyed with Anita Manning on Bargain Hunt. Not that I watch it often these days
Did you have a teacher, in school, or later who was inspirational ?
I’ve absolutely no idea! It’s a subject I know nothing about at all.
I am very worried about the Russian gas situation though.
Who on the TV really gets on your wick? I can’t stand Carol Vorderman, but she has recently been eclipsed by Jay Blades.
I once bought some books for my pupils ‘by’ CV, and I had to put stickers over her annoying face, as I felt enraged every time I saw it.
I like the 1812 overture with canons and bells - a nice bangy piece to cover up noise from outside. I also like the Easter Hymn from Cavaliere Rusticana.
If you were Prime Minister what would be your solution to the energy crisis?
I would accounce an emergency and nationalise all the power companies, sack the chief executives with their monster salaries and run them as a public utility. I would also scrap the standing charge, VAT on fuel bills and the green levy so people only pay for what they use.
Yes I like some classical music, especially some of the piano sonata’s, I find it quite relaxing to listen to but it can also make me feel a little sad for some reason.
What is your favourite piece of classical music.
Only if I actually notice that they have become foul. I do do the top of the kitchen cupboards fairly often because I don’t like the yucky greasy feel otherwise.
Do you like classical music? I never used to but as I get older I am getting quite keen on some of it. My Dad loved it.
I shop mostly online and always stick to a list of favorites which I can call up automatically. I am not an impluse shopper (not for food anyway).
Do you bother cleaning in obscure places like behind radiators and the tops of cupboards?
My theory is that if Im not going to look there and see it no one else is!
As a child I used to nibble my nails. Can't remember when I stopped.
Do you stick to a list when you shop or add more as you go?
I do sort them a little bit. I wouldn't put anything too obviously
coloured in with white things. And I sort them into a long wash at 40 degrees or shorter at 30.
Do you bite your nails? Or did you ever? I did, until my early twenties . I can't remember why I stopped.
I have a long line but prefer to put clothes out to dry on an airer. That way they can be whipped in - by Mr R - if it rains and he carries it in in the evening. I use the same airer indoors in the winter - I put it upstairs on the landing - and the clothes dry remarkably quickly. I have a tumble dryer but don't use it very often.
Do you sort your washing into darks, lights and whites or just shove it in all together and hope for the best? I sort mine and use a colour catcher (just looks like a sheet of paper) if I am at all doubtful about colours running.
I gave my tumble drier to my DH when she was working. I can choose which days to hang out my washing. Used to love seeing a line of terry nappies drying on the line.
Do you have a long line or a rotary?
