I haven't been in a hot air balloon , my daughter has I bought it for her 40th birthday , although cancelled a few times due to Covid & the weather ... she loved every minute of it ... not sure what part of the US but would love to do it there

Is there a career you would have liked to have pursued & done but didn't ? I always wanted to be a nurse , but years ago did what your parents wanted you to do (mine did, well my mom !) I am not saying I would have made it at all, as if any one was sick ... say no more ... when my hubby had an a operation when he came home for a week or so had to have injections once a day in his tummy ... Great I got to do it ! Someone once said ... if you give it ago & you fail you have lost nothing ... if you don't have ago you are a failure ... how true is this

I would like to have been an opera singer as I had a very good soprano voice when I was younger. Alas, coming from a working class background this was not a practical proposition. It would have meant years of expensive training and my parents would not even allow me to do A levels. They were only interested in my getting a job asap.

Is there a significant moment in your life which you look back on and think "I wish I had done or said things differently" because it had a real effect on future events?

I had such a moment when I ws 10 going on 11. I wont go into details (it concerned an incident in school) but the result made me wiser and more calculating in the future.

I could probably do with getting into more of a routine, since I retired it’s all gone to pot.

No, I'm too tired in the evenings.

Do you fall asleep in the daytime ?
Deliberately or accidentally?

I have a nap every afternoon from about 4pm but I sleep little at night.

Do you have a routine for bedtime?

They say you should not watch TV or phones/computers as the light is over stimulating. I find an hour of Netflix sends me off to sleep.

I play one game of Classic Words on my phone, and have a quick look through GN, then I read until I feel sleepy. (either a library book or on my Kindle). 19 nights out of 20 I sleep well.

Apart from the obvious bathroom visit, what is the first thing you do when getting up in the morning?

Come downstairs and put the kettle on. I really need that cup of tea.

Do you have a light, or more substantial, breakfast?

I have toast/marmalade and sometimes cereal instead

We don’t have breakfast. We do 16:8 fasting. So have lunch around noon.

Do you have, tea, dinner or supper in the evening? We have dinner.

Dinner for me too.

Do you like dry or use a tumble drier?

Line dry*

I have supper when I eat alone because its generally around 9-10 pm. When I invite someone we eat around 8-8 30 so its dinner. Tea is something you have around 4 oclock.

Do you find it stressful having to listen out for delivery people?

I do. I just find it puts me off my usual routine and am always worried I will miss them - even tough I have a doorbell which plays a very loud and annoying tune! Dont feel able to relax until Ive got my package.

No it doesn’t bother me. Most things turn up eventually.

I’m making Toad in the hole tonight. I like to make it in individual tin. Do you do the same or do you use a large tin and cut Into portions?

I never make it but we did have some kransky tonight, unusual for us.

Is there a vegetable that you don’t like at all ?
I don’t like silverbeet or those tiny sweetcorns you get in Chinese dishes.

For some reason, I’m going off tomatoes, although it’s a fruit.

Do you have apples, plums or vegetables growing in your garden?

To answer an earlier question I line dry during fine weather but put things on a clothes horses if it looks risky - having to rescue the washing during a sudden downpour really irritates me.

I don't grow fruit or veg as the garden is very small and it's hardly worth it for one person.

Do you enjoy sitting out in the sunshine?

Yes but not as much as I used to. I like sitting out with a drink reading for a while but I soon move into the shade or back inside if it gets too hot now.

Do you always wear sun protection when out in the garden?

Only if I sit out there. Coming and going, then no

Do you speak any foreign languages ? (I enjoy them)

I did French at school, so can get by in that and am picking up Welsh quite quickly as we now live in Wales. But I didn’t enjoy learning languages at school.

The nights are drawing it. Are you looking forward to winter?

I am sorry but please don't talk about the nights drawing and winter. It's still JULY for goodness sake! So clearly my answer is No I Am Not Looking Forward To Winter!!!

Do you do anything different because it's Sunday? We don't but it always feels that Sundays have a different feel.

I agree that Sundays have a different feel. I don't do anything special, but I do make a point of not doing any housework of any sort. I regard Sundays as a 'day off'.

Do you like August? I don't. It's too hot,(sometimes) and there are too many tourists about and the traffic is a nightmare.

We live near the coast so August, as you say, is full of tourists, camper vans and caravans. And of course it is getting darker.

Would you like a camper van? And where might you go in it?

No. I like to stay in hotels or cottages if I go away.

Do you prefer the early autumn months to summer?

My first thought is Yes, I’d love a camper van. I’d like to think I’d be adventurous and go travelling in Europe , would love to see The Camargue (spelling???) with its beautiful horses, but might end up taking picnics and visiting local places I’ve never been to.

If you could see any artist in concert in any part of the world who/where would it be?

I would probably settle for Tina Turner.

If you could meet any person (living or dead) and spend an hour chatting to them who would it be?

I would like to meet Elizabeth I. She is my all time hero.

My Dad.
He was coming down to see us the next day, from Northumberland to Kent. But he had a major heart attack & I didn't get to say goodbye.
I was pregnant with his first grandchild. I'd love to be able to introduce him to my family, my kids missed out on so much by not meeting my Dad!
