Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

FannyCornforth Fri 09-Sept-22 13:51:54

Forget that about York, it appears that it’s not true. Happily!

NotAGran55 Fri 09-Sept-22 18:31:55

We have Fanny’s Lane just up the road, near to the Middletown’s house ?

Do you have a good singing voice? Mine is absolutely awful ?

NotAGran55 Fri 09-Sept-22 18:32:32

*Middleton’s

SachaMac Fri 09-Sept-22 19:04:26

No I am no great singer, although I somehow managed to get into the school choir, I’d say my singing voice is a little on the high side! I certainly wouldn’t get up and do karaoke.

Are you currently reading a book and if so what are you reading. Ive just started Life After Life by Kate Atkinson.

biglouis Sat 10-Sept-22 00:27:54

Reading a book about Elizabeth I by Neville Williams.

Have you ever walked out of a film in the cinema or a play?

My nephew and I walked out of "World Trade Center" because it was so boring. We thought it would be about how people managed to escape/get rescued. We both realised the other was bored and walked out halfway through. Apparently it got more interesting after we left.

hollysteers Sat 10-Sept-22 00:45:54

I walked out of “Moonstruck”. Love Cher, but sometimes American films get on my nerves.
My drinks with the meal before didn’t help my patience…

Have you ever taken flowers to a palace etc for a royal death?

FannyCornforth Sat 10-Sept-22 05:04:01

No. I don’t live anywhere near a palace, unless you count Chatsworth grin
I wouldn’t anyway, it’s a waste of good flowers

Have you ever met royalty?
I haven’t.
DH came close to going to a private party where Charles was on attendance.
The thrower of said party insisted that DH should go (without mentioning that Charles would be there) but DH didn’t get the hint hmm
It was before I met him, needless to say…

ginny Sat 10-Sept-22 07:21:39

No I haven’t.

I’ve never waited hours for Royalty to pass though anywhere or gone anywhere that they are attending either.

I am currently enjoying a weekend with 7 friends. A spa crafting, chatting and generally relaxing. We try to do it once a year.
Have you ever done the same ?

SachaMac Sat 10-Sept-22 08:44:55

Yes a few weeks ago I went to Hoar Cross Hall for a spa break with a group of friends. It was wonderful and so relaxing. I also go to a weekly craft group, it’s lovely, tea, cake & a natter whilst trying different crafts.

Is there a particular craft or hobby you haven’t yet tried but would love to have a go at.

AGAA4 Sat 10-Sept-22 11:30:28

Jewellery making. My friend makes some lovely pieces and I would like to have a go.

If you could keep just one piece of jewellery what would it be?

JaneJudge Sat 10-Sept-22 11:40:40

my engagement and wedding ring

I've met Charles twice. I was thinking about this yesterday, I can now say I have met the King! I was also thinking yesterday, there was a lot of really normal places the Queen visited. I know her and Phillip visited one of our local schools which is just a ordinary secondary school and I listened to Teresa May's speech this morning and she said she'd opened a hospice in July - which sound rather low key iykwim

My question, if you could make an item of clothing today what would it be?

Mine Sat 10-Sept-22 12:43:16

I worked making sample items for Levi Strauss when I left school so I would make myself a nice pair of comfortable Jeans. Ones where there is enough room to go over my tummy and fasten up on my waist..

Is there any food that you love but can't tolerate..Mines is Ice cream.

biglouis Sat 10-Sept-22 23:59:22

I love grapefruits but they give me indigestion.

If you could change one feature about yourself what would it be?

My boobs have always been too big. I would like a reduction if I had the money.

MrsKen33 Sun 11-Sept-22 04:02:04

I have always been short sighted. Wore contact lenses for some time but now back to glasses. I would love good sight,.

How about you?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 11-Sept-22 09:07:29

I'm long-sighted and have worn glasses since my mid-twenties - the thought of contact lenses gives me the creeps as I'm rather squeamish about eyes. Good sight is fabulous and I couldn't cope without it.

Have you ever killed a spider plant? They're supposed to be really easy to care for.

Billybob4491 Sun 11-Sept-22 09:12:19

Yes I have killed a spider plant and it ended up in the plant cemetery along with all the others.

If you were to be granted one wish what would it be and why.

hollysteers Sun 11-Sept-22 10:37:11

Good health for all the family. Without health, what is there?

What were you told as a child and believed?
(For me, that flip was a terrible swear word?)

biglouis Sun 11-Sept-22 15:00:32

Up to age 9 I believed that you got new babies at the hospital!

At age 11 my mother gave me a book on the facts of life.

Sale question?

SachaMac Sun 11-Sept-22 16:16:04

I was told by my Nanna that you got worms from eating raw potatoes, I used to like biting into a raw spud until I was told this. Maybe it’s true!?

Are you superstitious about anything in particular.

ginny Sun 11-Sept-22 22:29:27

Not really. I don’t like to see Magpies in the garden and always hope that there two rather than just one.
Mainly because I think they are nasty bullies who can’t sing a good tune.

I recently bought new pillows for DH and I. They are very heavy but so comfortable.
What sort of pillows and how many do you sleep in ?

Mollygo Sun 11-Sept-22 22:51:13

I have one, a firm memory foam one one that supports my neck. I keep trying others, but haven’t found one that I like.

My DGD appreciates me trying new ones and asks if she can have them -so I must make a good choice for her at least.

What’s the longest you’ve had road works outside your house? We’ve had traffic light controlled ones since June! It makes getting out of the drive really tricky.

biglouis Mon 12-Sept-22 02:05:28

Two days when they were moving street lamps.

Are you planning to watch the queen's funeral?

I will probably see the highlights on catch up later. I rarely watch live tv now.

MrsKen33 Mon 12-Sept-22 04:59:12

Yes I expect we will. I was pregnant with my first child when Churchill died and watched all of that, and of course Diana’s. Though I didn’t go out and throw flowers at the hearse.

Have you bought anything for ‘the end of year ‘ festival yet ????

ginny Mon 12-Sept-22 11:05:31

No, but I shall be away for nearly 3 weeks from the middle of November so I suppose I should start a bit earlier than usual.

We have only had to cut our grass twice this year. It needs doing now though.
How often have you cut yours ?

biglouis Mon 12-Sept-22 12:00:21

My gardener cuts it and tidies up every month from May to October. I dont do anything in the garden - mobility issues.

How often do the council collect rubbish in your area?

Its fortnightly here.
