I rely a great deal on string, superglue, duct tape, elastic bands, paper clips. Do you like these old fashioned remedies for fixing things? Or are you more up to date?

Yes - add bluetack to that list. Plus small safety pins. I have a supply of these little things in my kitchen draw. When I do a photo shoot (for my shop) the back of the mannequin is inevitably hiding grips, elastic bands and various other gadgets to keep the accessory in place.

Do you keep all these kinds of bits and bobs neatly organized or just stuffed into a drawer or box?

My grandmother used to keep string (in a big ball) buttons, safety pins, rubber bands and so on all neatly organized into jars.

A tin for buttons. Drawer for sellotape, blue tack, glue etc. Big jars for, safety pins, paper lips, and elastic bands. All on shelves in the ‘office’. ( spare bedroom actually) .

Are you making anything at the moment?

I’m knitting a hat, crocheting a blanket , finishing off a nutcracker hanging and preparing several projects for craft club

This year we must replace our bathroom flooring. Have you got any house ejects that need to be done soon ?

The plumbers have just finished replacing my bathroom. There was a leak in the heating pipes (which ran under the bath) and they had to rip it out so Ive had the bathroom entirely replaced. There was also a hole in my kitchen cieling (caused by the leak) so the plasterer is coming next week. Deep joy.

Same question, Any household projects?

Yes ,we need our wood stove moved a little and a new hearth, plus the conservatory roof insulated. I’m a bit sad about this as I love watching the sky and birds through the roof, but it has been unbelievably cold in there so we must do something.

Any signs of spring around you?

Not as I’ve noticed.
It’s constantly grey and raining here.
Not that I’m complaining - I’d prefer it to be a bit colder tbh

If you had to do a college or university course, or similar, what would you chose to study?

I think I would choose the history of art. I did a little taster course once and it was fascinating. And possibly the Victorian poets. Also biology.

How do you wrap cheeses, especially Camembert, to prevent them from making the fridge smelly?

I keep mine in the box and inside a ziploc bag. We bought some French cheese (forget which) that nothing worked to stop the smell, so I cut it up and froze it, only taking it out when we were going to eat it.
If anyone has a better way, please add here or pm me.
Do you buy genuine ink or replacement ink for your printer?

I buy replacements from a place on Ebay. They seem to work ok.

Do you keep a supply of different batteries in the house for when things suddenly stop working (like remotes) or always have to order them?

I order them in batches from Amazon so I always have some in.

I buy my batteries - mainly AA and AAA - in bulk from Costco.

I would love to feel confident enough to draw and/or paint.
Are you good at art and if so, are you naturally artistic or did you teach yourself?

I went to an art college for two years and soon discovered I had no talent.
But it did teach me to appreciate art.

Do you buy paintings/prints, or would you if you could afford to?

Yes we buy original art only. There is a scheme in Wales called ‘Collector plan’ where you can buy art over a 10 month period.
So we have several large pieces. Plus our own as we met at art school

Do you prefer, pottery, paintings, sculptures or prints ?

Paintings-especially oils. They seem to have more life in them.

Being quite arty I like many paintings, pottery and sculpture.

Which do you like best - still life, landscapes or portraits?

My preference is landscapes - although I do enjoy watching the painting programmes on the TV.

And in art shops or even The Range … where all the paints, brushes and pencils are… I find myself drawn to them. I think I might investigate this further … search good old YouTube to see where to start as I know nothing.

I studied History of Art to Masters degree, so I’m a bit snobby!
(My dissertation was Women, Art and Society 1750-1850)
I like decorative art, I’m a bit old fashioned in my tastes.
That’s what I like in my home, I have more eclectic tastes in other areas.
I do find it really difficult to buy decent framed art.
I’m not in the position to buy original art.

It was 1964 and I had been given my first record player and £1.
Singles were 6 shillings and 8 pence each , exactly a third of a £1 so I bought 3.
Down Town by Petula Clark, Little Children by Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas and The Three Bells by Brian Poole and The Tremeloes. I still have them all.

Oh! I was thinking of you yesterday, I was going to ask you how it went!
In my youth 15-20 I probably went to two or three gigs a week.
There was a quite famous club in Dudley called JBs and I went there all the time.
I also went to Birmingham at least once a week to a gig.
Lots of Glastonburies and Readings too.
My first boyfriend was the bass player in quite a successful 90s band.
So I was a bit gigged out by my 20s.
I don’t even listen to music now!
I think the last gig I went to was Mick Hucknall about 20 years ago. He’s an amazing performer - like an old fashioned crooner. Effortless

I had to cut that short. I had to get he dog in. She was barking really loudly outside 🤦‍♀️

I think that my most memorable was Public Enemy. It was their first time in the UK and they were really notorious.
I was definitely the only white girl there! In fact there was only a hand full of girls full stop.
It was exhilarating

We went to something at the O2 many years ago. It must have been dire because I really can’t remember who it was.
In my youth we went to many. Lots of jazz ones. Acker Bilk comes to mind and several Rolling Stones.

Yes we have had flood warnings in our town. Luckily we live much higher up so no problem.

I like to have a diary in my bag and one in the kitchen.
