Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

MrsKen33 Fri 13-Jan-23 05:42:32

I made Spanakopita last week. Filo pastry with a feta and spinach filling. It was really good and I was please as we are trying to cut down on meat
.Also I made avocado soup as I had several just on the point of no return. It was very moreish.

Same question please

Mollygo Fri 13-Jan-23 03:03:38

Yes we decided to have Indian take-away as a new year treat and we had keema rice instead of pilau. DH really liked it but I wasn’t impressed.

Same question please.

FannyCornforth Fri 13-Jan-23 02:34:16

You mean recently?
I haven’t cooked anything recently at all as I have blooming awful foot pain and am struggling to stand for long enough.
I’m seeing a physio in a couple of weeks.

I think that the thing that I have eaten for the first time was some marinated figs in syrup.
They were yummy 😋
Have you tried anything for the first time recently?

swampy1961 Thu 12-Jan-23 23:55:57

I play cribbage, spider solitaire and backgammon.

Have you cooked something you have never cooked before?

biglouis Thu 12-Jan-23 23:15:58

Chess!

Do you ever play online games against the computer or app?

I play chess, scrabble and solitaire.

MrsKen33 Thu 12-Jan-23 17:42:18

SWWales very windy and pouring.

Fanny you are spot on. Mid December.

What is your favourite board game ( or bored game) ?

AGAA4 Thu 12-Jan-23 14:39:14

No but they sound like a good idea.

It's blowing gale here in North Wales. How is it near you?

Mollygo Thu 12-Jan-23 13:07:04

Yes, at the moment I’ve discovered that KIKO Insta moisture, suits my skin, makes me look good (or do I’ve been assured) and costs me half of what I usually pay.

Have you ever tried exfoliating foot socks?

FannyCornforth Thu 12-Jan-23 12:26:46

No, I haven’t been to ‘the shops’ for years.
I’ve bought stuff online in the sale though. Including a bee-ootiful coatigan from Gudrun Sjoden

Do you have any favourite items of beauty products?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 12-Jan-23 12:12:22

No, I haven't been to the sales as I'm still suffering from a dreaded lurgy and don't wish to inflict my germs on others.

Has anyone else been to the sales?

SachaMac Thu 12-Jan-23 11:42:50

Sorry crossed over with biglouis, I’ll answer your question.

No, I only ever won the occasional £10 on the lottery and stopped doing it some years ago. I haven’t won any other competitions other than things like Easter Bonnet at school 😊 but then I rarely enter competitions now.

I’ll repeat my question. Have you purchased any bargains in the sales?

SachaMac Thu 12-Jan-23 11:38:15

I had my tarot read once, many years ago. I know it’s only a bit of fun but I’m always a bit wary. I’m not sure what casting the runes is?

Have you managed to get any bargains in the sales?
We have a shopping outlet not far away situated in an old mill. I just went for a look around and lunch the other day & ended up with some great bargains.

biglouis Thu 12-Jan-23 11:31:25

I have a cousin who reads both the tarot and the crystal. She is amazingly accurate.

Have you ever won any money on a lottery or in a competition?

When I was a librarian we used to get people coming in with a list of questions expecting us to do the work for them! I always refused because it was cheating and therefore unfair to other competitors. However they were welcome to use the reference material and do the work themselves.

MrsKen33 Thu 12-Jan-23 09:37:35

Superstitions ,yes. Certain numbers that I use, plus coincidences and sometimes names .

I had a friend who often cast the Runes. Do you or anyone you know use tarot cards or Runes or such things ?

FannyCornforth Thu 12-Jan-23 07:05:17

It’s me, so as you know, I’m Autumn too. smile
Always gold for me too.
What season are you Ken? I imagine you as a Winter.
Suiting vivid, bold colours

Do you have any superstitions?

NotAGran55 Thu 12-Jan-23 06:55:42

I’m ‘autumn’ colouring so it’s ‘gold’ jewellery for me.

Do you know your colour season?

MrsKen33 Thu 12-Jan-23 06:52:35

Some silver and pearl earrings.

I always wear silver. Do you have a preference, silver or gold ?

FannyCornforth Thu 12-Jan-23 03:40:05

I love houseplants. I can’t resist a nice orchid, especially a cymbidium orchid. Ive got a gorgeous dark red one at the moment which I got from Waitrose for free.
The courier decided in his wisdom to literally launch it over the seven foot side gate. The pot unsurprisingly smashed so I got a refund.
I like big bold things like aspidistras too.
And I always have a money plant in the kitchen.

What was the last ‘nice’ thing that you bought yourself?

biglouis Thu 12-Jan-23 01:17:58

Depends on the flowers but average 4-7 days. You should crush the stalks and blanch them in hot water. You can get cut flower food but a bit of sugar added to the water works as well. If you get a droopy houseplant giving it an asperin peps it up! Dont ask me how that works.

Do you have any house plants?

I like aspidistras because they are so hardy. I also like leaf begonias because of the lovely colours and patterns in the leaves. They thrive in the bathroom.

Mollygo Wed 11-Jan-23 18:04:58

Work was a great relief -someone else’s heating and enthusiastic children. What more do I need?

I’ve had some Alstromeria since New Year’s Eve and they still look lovely.
How long do you expect cut flowers to last?

crazyH Wed 11-Jan-23 17:59:14

Capuchino and victoria sponge

How did you spend this miserable day ? I caught up with some ‘clothes- sorting’ and made a nice spicy vegetarian dish .

MrsKen33 Wed 11-Jan-23 17:18:49

Capuchino and a custard slice.

Same question please

SachaMac Wed 11-Jan-23 13:57:48

Yes totally fed up of bad news but keep updated on my phone if it’s something I feel is of importance or interest to me. Sick of hearing about Harry’s book, I didn’t watch the ‘interview’ would rather do the ironing so that says something.

If you were meeting a friend in a really nice coffee shop this afternoon what would you order. I’d have an Americano (black) and if I wasn’t on a post Christmas diet a big slice of coffee & walnut cake.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 11-Jan-23 13:35:44

Yes, so fed up with the news I just look at the headlines and turn to something else.

I've just discovered Taskmaster on Dave. Are there any shows which have been around for a while which you've begun to take an in interest in?

FannyCornforth Wed 11-Jan-23 10:07:04

Oh it’s dreadful isn’t it.
I don’t remember a time as bad as this. It’s the state of the NHS that’s getting me.
I’m on constant high alert in case MrC has to go to hospital.
And I’m so livid with the government.
It’s as if they are the enemy, not as if they are working to make our lives better.

What about you? What is getting you down?
