Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

AGAA4 Wed 11-Jan-23 09:59:02

I had wanted to have a long walk but it's tipping it down again. On the dry days I've had other plans so my fitness regime isn't happening yet.

Are you fed up with the news so far this year? Seems to be all about strikes and Harry.

NotAGran55 Wed 11-Jan-23 06:37:51

Morning all.
My final foodbank shift of the week this morning followed by a grocery shop this afternoon. A bit of office work,
cook dinner and flop!

Same question please.

MrsKen33 Wed 11-Jan-23 05:20:29

Morning Fanny
I’m reading ‘Hamnet’ by Maggie O’Farrell at the moment. Beautifully written but harrowing in places.

Sounds very stormy outside. Any plans for today?

FannyCornforth Wed 11-Jan-23 03:59:00

Hello Tommo, and welcome to GN smile
I read your post about knitting on another thread.
I’m really not sure what your post is about, though, especially the picture. It’s very odd.
On this thread we answer the question posed by the previous poster, and then ask a question ourselves.
You are more than welcome to join in!
(Perhaps less of the spooky pictures though wink)

Yes - Ruby I used to love charity shops in the 80s.
I got a lot of fabulous 60s clothes from them. It was before charity shops were ‘cool’ so you could get some amazing stuff.
Especially in Birmingham. I used to buy traditional Indian clothes as well, especially the long sequinned tunics that men wear.
My mom used to alter things for me as I was super slim (not like now blush)

Unfortunately I also caught scabies due to my charity shop habit.
It was dreadful.
My parents and I had to paint ourselves blue and isolate for a week! shock

I haven’t been in a charity shop for ages. I think the last time was in my beloved Whitby, looking for books.

What are you currently reading, or what was the last book that you read?
Any good?

Tommo Wed 11-Jan-23 02:43:44

It would have to be me.
People are often telling me to stop acting: the fool, illness, being smart, stupid, childish.
I like acting about. Like here.
I am really someone quite different elsewhere.
My psychology prof at uni told me I seemed to like a stage.
Wondered what he meant by that.
Still do.

rubysong Wed 11-Jan-23 00:44:00

My toenails are in there natural state for winter, as they won't be on view. I paint them in the summer, when I live in sandals. They are then purple or green.

Do you like charity shops and, if so, have you had any good bargains.

henetha Tue 10-Jan-23 23:28:38

Yes. A small group of us did in South Devon. Ages ago. It was fine, but not repeated as far as I know.

What colour are your toe nails now? Mine are sort of dark pink.
It's nail varnish I hasten to add! wink

Mollygo Tue 10-Jan-23 22:51:28

Yes I am friends with a few ladies I ‘met’ on a FB group where we shared interests and discovered that some of us lived close enough to actually meet up every now and then. The other lady in the group lives in the Channel Islands, so ours is an ‘online’ friendship only.

Have you ever met up with someone on GN?

biglouis Tue 10-Jan-23 22:38:36

With speed dating you are not stuck with someone you really take a dislike to. So it has its uses. Never tried it. Did try computer dating long before smart phones but I got a bunch of creeps.

Have you ever formed a "friendship" with someone online?

I did and it turned out to be a scammer. All the red flags were there.

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 14:41:41

If I was single, and I wanted to meet someone, yes, I would.
My widowed aunty in her late 60s met a lovely widower online and they live together now (in the beautiful Cotswolds with a place in Spain. Not that I’m envy at all!)

I’ve also really fancied speed dating. I definitely think that you can quickly get the measure if someone and know whether or not you click.

Any similar dating experiences or views?

AGAA4 Tue 10-Jan-23 14:18:36

Me too Fanny but like other things on my endless to do list it won't happen. I am a faffer. My days go by fast but I haven't got much done.

Have you or would you consider online dating if you are single now?

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 12:42:10

Ha ha! Every day is an enforced day indoors, so I hope that you don’t mind, but I’ll skip that

Have you ever seen a life coach or similar?
I think that I desperately need one

Mollygo Tue 10-Jan-23 12:38:57

Walk the dog. (Just got back from doing that.) Spend a while drying us both and then
sort clothes again.
Reward myself with a cup of hot chocolate and a book.
What does anybody else do?

MrsKen33 Tue 10-Jan-23 12:33:27

Yes all the time. It is pouring here and we have to stay in. I could be cleaning kitchen cupboards or dusting. Instead I. ‘ on GN, reading, just finished sewing up a cardie Ihave knitted and I might have a nap next as I slept badly last night.

What do you do on an enforced day indoors?

AGAA4 Tue 10-Jan-23 11:55:51

Mostly weekends as many are working.

Do you put off doing housework if there is something more interesting to do?

ginny Tue 10-Jan-23 08:32:10

Yes, tipping it down.

We have visitors coming today for lunch and dinner.
Do you have visitors in the week or mainly at weekends.?

FannyCornforth Tue 10-Jan-23 08:05:16

Poor neglected thread sad

Beige I’ve thought long and hard about your question, which is an excellent one.
But I can’t think of anything at all!

Is it raining where you are? It’s absolutely tipping it down here

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 08-Jan-23 15:56:30

I used to have a light breakfast of fruit, cereal and yogurt but I try to delay eating until lunchtime. I found that life is perfectly all right without breakfast.

Are there any long-held beliefs that you've also ditched?

biglouis Sun 08-Jan-23 15:39:35

I tend to stay in bed a bit longer when its cold and damp like today. Or maybe go for a nap a bit sooner.

Do you have a cooked breakfast or something light?

Most mornings I have coffee, yogert and toast. Sometimes I have fruit as well.

Mollygo Sun 08-Jan-23 15:02:25

I’m full of the joys of spring but joy is slightly dampened by the constant rain!

Do you get up earlier when it’s warm and sunny -or stay in bed longer when it’s cold and rainy?

crazyH Sun 08-Jan-23 14:58:58

Sorry
I’m feeling so lethargic and tired after the various Xmas outings etc - Are you tired too or full of the joys of Spring?

crazyH Sun 08-Jan-23 14:56:22

Kippers

FannyCornforth Sun 08-Jan-23 11:29:32

Usually just main.
Or main and starter.
I go along with what the others are doing.
If it’s Indian food, I have two starters, as I don’t like curry or rice.

Which food do you really dislike?
For me it’s eggs.
I can’t even look at a fried egg

MrsKen33 Sun 08-Jan-23 11:24:41

I eat 16:8 always, except when on holiday. My weight has stayed much the same for years now.

I can never eat three courses when we go out for a meal. So I alternate. Starter and main, or main and pudding. DH manages all three always. Which are you?

SachaMac Sun 08-Jan-23 10:42:43

I still use a small diary but also put appointments, important dates & reminders in my i phone with an alert. You never know when your phone battery might die though so a paper back up is essential for me. I suppose paper diaries will eventually disappear but I like them.

Have you any plans to go on a diet or eat healthier now Christmas & New Year is over or do you just have what you want within reason and not worry too much. It’s a diet for me as Ive faced the scales & appear to gained quite a few pounds.
