I’d definitely try to find its owner, but I’m not sure how.
Put something on Nextdoor or ask someone else to put it on FB?
But I’d keep it and do my best.

Which has reminded me of something.
About twenty years ago I saw an older lady drop a £20 note in our local shop.
I immediately started to follow her, but she left the shop before I caught up with her.
I told the cashier that I was leaving the shop to catch the lady; but the cashier said, ‘oh don’t worry- just leave it with me’
I didn’t, needless to say.

Have you ever seen someone stealing something?

FaceBook is really useful for that. e.g. You can post that a purse (unspecified) with money in it was found in the carpark at ASDA and say that you have handed it in at the store. The owner will need to describe the purse and the contents.

Any other suggestions?

I’d see if there was any ID in the purse & try and reunite it with the owner. If there were cards or drivers license etc in it I’d certainly hand in to the police station. This actually happened to me years ago while on holiday in Norfolk. We took the purse to Sheringham police station. Not much money in it but the owner wrote me a lovely letter thanking me.

Do you go to or have you ever gone to watch a league football match.

No. The only match I’ve been to was Derby County v ??

Conversations with ‘friends’ about curtains, carpets and rubbish television programmes.
Talk about books or art and they look faint. Sounds a bit snobbish I know but as with FB I don’t want to know the minutiae of other’s lives .

Do the meals you eat now resemble what you ate 30 years ago?

Not really. I think I eat much healthier now, and certainly smaller portions. I've almost given up meat, not entirely, and eat far more fish than I ever used to.

Do you have dry skin on your legs? What creams/ointments would you recommend?

I have an argan oil spray I bought in France which I use after swimming. Keeps my skin soft and smells nice too. I have some foot cream from Boots for dry heels though.

Anyone got any other useful treatments?

I have been using Lacura hand lotion from Aldi (yes on my legs).
It’s a 200 ml bottle and fragrance is a nice mint and bergamot oil. Price: £2.49

Question: could you go completely plastic-free in your kitchen?

No. I’ve done my best by stopping buying plastic things where possible, but I wouldn’t get rid of things I have e.g. my steamer, storage containers (though I’m gradually replacing those with metal canisters), plastic measuring spoons and jugs etc.

I'm not completely plastic free but I do my best. I use my own net bags for loose produce where possible. It's apparently a good idea to use up the plastic which we've already got (a la Monty Don in his garden).

What do others do about plastic?

Some of the things I sell in my online shops are early plastic such as bakelite, celluloid etc. However as they are being passed to new owners they are being recycled.

So I know Im doing my bit to recycle "old" stuff.

I try to avoid plastic and recycle any that I do have. Most of my kitchen wear is made of non plastic and will last for a very long time.

Have you been busy today or lazy like me?

Busy today. One job I had to do was build a wire cage around a tiny mistletoe plant I have managed to grow. The squirrels have nibbled it and I would be really upset if they ate it..
Have you nurtured anything like that?

Last year I nursed a dying bumble back to health.
I made him a little house and fed him sugar water. He doubled in size in 24 hours

What alternative career do you think that you might have been good at?
If I was scientifically minded I would have liked to have been an entomologist because insects fascinate me

A quality control tester of foods at the selection point before they go on our supermarket shelves.
To illustrate - I bought Tesco Finest bacon and the rashers were so thin my fingers went through them just lifting each from the pack
They would have been Rejected!

Do you have similar grouches about a product you have bought, believing it to be of good quality and finding it wasn’t?

I bought an expensive pair of trousers. After the first wash the hems had unravelled. I was not impressed.

Have you ever done bird watch? My DD was on watch yesterday.

No Ive never done that as a hobby - I dont have the patience although I sometimes watch them in the garden.

What was your first "proper" job after leaving school?

Mine was in the civil service although I quickly swapped it for the city libraries.

First proper job was as an art teacher at a boys school. I hated it. Really glad when I became pregnant and could leave.

I had to go into Screwfix for DH today. It was full of ‘blokes’ who all turned and looked at me. I felt quite intimidated. Would you have been?

Not really. They’re usually friendly although the “has he sent you out to collect the stuff he needs?” remark I once received, really bugged me!

I hung washing out this morning for the first time this year, and it’s dry!! Do simple things like that ever make your day?

I used to love hanging out the washing and tootling around in the garden but I don't have a garden now.

What small pleasures do you enjoy?

Driving my small car along a country road on a sunny day, Dire Straits music playing and sucking a Werther’s toffee that I keep in the dashboard.
