Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

NotAGran55 Thu 02-Feb-23 23:07:58

We have literally only ever had one takeaway meal. It stained the work surface and we never had another one.
It would involve a 10 mile round trip to get one from the nearest town and not worth it when we have good food in the house.

Do you like to eat out?
We do almost every Sunday of the year generally, plus birthdays and any other occasion like graduations, new jobs etc.

FannyCornforth Fri 03-Feb-23 07:01:41

No. It’s another thing I’m odd about. Eating isn’t a social thing for me. I don’t like eating in front of others. If I have to go out for a meal I try to sit so that I’m not facing outward to ‘the public’.
I’ve had eating disorders in the past though.

Tell me something odd about you

biglouis Fri 03-Feb-23 10:48:01

I dont like to be interrupted once Ive begun a task (especially a complex one) and can become quite aggressive when my train of thought is disturbed. Thats why I dont open the door if Im not expecting anyone because that person is trespassing upon my time.

Same question.

AGAA4 Fri 03-Feb-23 11:15:10

I don't like leaving messages if a phone isn't answered. I prefer to ring back.

Same again please

TillyTrotter Fri 03-Feb-23 12:10:30

I prefer sitting on a train with my back to the engine. Most companions say they do not like to sit that way they have to face the direction they are going.

Do you enjoy steam train pleasure trips?

MrsKen33 Fri 03-Feb-23 14:03:59

Yes we have been o several especially in Wales.

If you could do something, be somewhere or be with someone just this very minute, what would it be?

AGAA4 Fri 03-Feb-23 14:09:18

I would love to be with my 3 year old GS. I don't get to see him nearly enough.

Is there anyone you miss?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 03-Feb-23 16:40:51

Oh yes, I miss my dear late husband every day and I'll bet there are loads of other people on this site who feel exactly the same way.

What's your favourite way to spend your day?

AGAA4 Fri 03-Feb-23 17:14:38

lovebeigecardigans 💐 you are right there are many including me.

Back to the question.

SachaMac Fri 03-Feb-23 22:03:15

*lovebeigecardigans & AGAA4*flowers Yes sadly I’m another one missing my late DH sad

To the question:
I like to spend the day with my DC and/or GC or perhaps go out for a nice lunch with some good friends. If it’s a cold dark winters evening I prefer to stay in & put my feet up with a nice cup of tea and watch something like Happy Valley on the TV with my little Border Terrier by my side. I would then end the day by reading a couple of chapters of a good book.

Do you ever have facials either done at home or at a beauty salon?

biglouis Sat 04-Feb-23 09:18:13

Never had a facial in my life. I dont like people fiddling around me.

Any special plans for the weekend?

Im expecting my Tesco delivery and Royal Mail to collect packages this morning but apart from that I dont anticipate any other visitors. Good!

FannyCornforth Sat 04-Feb-23 09:26:49

I can’t stand being fiddled about with either louis.
A massage would be torture. I could really do with a pedicure, but I don’t think that I could manage it.

I’m talking Gracie for her post op check up this morning.
Tomorrow my dad is coming to see me.
I haven’t seen him for ages, and he’s got a special present for me. When it was my 50th last year he wanted to get me something lovely, but I couldn’t think of anything; but last year I saw an amazing watch which he has kindly bought me.

Have you had memorable and special gifts for significant ages?

NotAGran55 Sat 04-Feb-23 10:33:31

My most memorable ‘gift’ for my 40th birthday was a baby 😃

Are you looking forward to anything this weekend?

I’m looking forward to football this afternoon and binge watching all of Happy Valley tomorrow 📺
As my mum used to say to my brother, I will have square eyes 👀 by the end of the day.

AGAA4 Sat 04-Feb-23 16:44:51

I will be doing the usual thing but I too am looking forward to watching Happy Valley later.

Do you make your own soup?

HowVeryDareYou Sat 04-Feb-23 16:53:15

I used to make soups but haven't done so for some time. I might have a go at making some, seeing as they're £1.70 a tin!

Do you clean your windows, or do you have a window cleaner? (We can't seem to get one around my way. Not seen one since about June)

SachaMac Sat 04-Feb-23 18:19:07

I have a window cleaner who calls regularly & cleans all of the windows outside, I’m not over impressed though!! I do inside but not aa often as I used to,

Do you have an electric blanket or ever use a hot water bottle in your bed?

Mollygo Sat 04-Feb-23 20:01:32

Not really a hot water bottle, but one of those microwave heated packs sometimes, just to warm my feet.

It’s getting lighter first thing now. Do you get up earlier when it’s lighter?

HowVeryDareYou Sat 04-Feb-23 22:01:46

I've noticed that it's getting light earlier, and I have been getting up at about 7, instead of 8ish.

Do you sleep all through the night, or do you (like me) wake a few times (not always for the loo)?

MrsKen33 Sun 05-Feb-23 03:09:54

Well I am awake now which is quite usual for me, although I did have a visit to the loo. Then I just don’t go back to sleep for a couple of hours.

Has anyone been given one of those experiences’ as a present. Balloon ride, afternoon tea, drive a fast car, that sort of thing? And did you enjoy it ?

HowVeryDareYou Sun 05-Feb-23 08:50:44

We've had afternoon teas, weekend spas, a helicopter ride, a Murder Mystery night with dinner, and my husband had a drive in a Ferrari. They were all good, especially the Murder Mystery one. We did have a hot air balloon ride booked last year, but it was cancelled due to the weather conditions (I've got to re-book it). All gifts from our sons.

What things do you get up to at weekends?

AGAA4 Sun 05-Feb-23 09:01:28

I tend to have outings during the week when it's quieter and just head for the local country park for walks at the weekend.

Do you like Sundays or find them difficult days?

henetha Sun 05-Feb-23 10:36:32

I like Sundays now since one of my sons comes to dinner every week. I enjoy cooking for him, especially as he's on his own now since his divorce.

My dumplings are boring. Either ones I make myself or the packet mix you can buy. How can I make them tastier?
I'm doing stew today.

biglouis Sun 05-Feb-23 11:48:17

I cant answer about your dumplings as I have little interest in cooking.

Do you dread mondays?

I always used to because they were the start of the working week. I still do, because people are less likely to pester me over the weekend, especially on a sunday.

SachaMac Sun 05-Feb-23 15:11:13

I used to hate Mondays but now I’m retired I don’t mind them. I go to a craft group most Monday mornings. I just wish the weeks didn’t fly by so quickly.

Do you feel like time is passing you by more quickly as you get older?

NotAGran55 Sun 05-Feb-23 15:13:43

I look forward to Mondays as I work that day and love what I do.

Do you like to do jigsaw 🧩 puzzles? I loved them as a child and bought 2 the week before lockdown but they are still unopened.
