Hello!👋
Welcome to the new thread 😊

Julie Walters is playing the part of me (or Helena Bonham Carter, if I’m having a very good day) and Juliette Greco is playing MrsKen.

Which actress is playing the part of you?

FannyCornforth Thu 24-Nov-22 01:30:27

I don’t think so. It seems morally wrong to me to put your body through needless trauma. I’m as vain as the next person, but it just seems irresponsible.
My cousin had a boob job and I was honestly horrified.
Perhaps I’m a horrible, judgmental person! blush
(Mind you, if I was even fatter than I am, I could see why people have gastric bands. But I don’t over eat - my metabolism is up the spout and I’m not active enough)

What’s the best gig that you’ve ever been to?
I’ve been to hundreds in my youth.
Public Enemy and Mick Hucknall stand out (eclectic or what!)
I was amazed at how brilliant a singer Hucknall is - I was not previously a fan. My friend ‘made’ me go to see Simply Red yonks ago.
It’s just effortless with him

MrsKen33 Thu 24-Nov-22 06:17:19

Different times but The Rolling Stones with Little Richard. Utterly brilliant. Went with DH on his scooter to Watford I think.

Were you a difficult teenager or placid.?

Mollygo Thu 24-Nov-22 09:23:51

Placid-apart from not worshipping at the feet of my brothers. That made me difficult in their eyes!

The children were so excited by the hailstorm yesterday-they rushed to the window to watch, and gathered handfuls at playtime.
Which sudden weather change would make you rush to the window?

MrsKen33 Thu 24-Nov-22 09:26:57

Sun, it’s been raining here for a week.

Same question please

FannyCornforth Thu 24-Nov-22 09:37:21

It’s been chucking it down here too. It’s just about to start again.
Apparently it’s going to be bright sun tomorrow, so we will be able to go out for a walk for a change.

I am looking forward to some snow though.

Do you regularly give to charities?
I have a few direct debits.
I keep meaning to have a cull on the ‘big’ ones - eg Oxfam and Unicef; and give the money to small local charities instead.

henetha Thu 24-Nov-22 09:56:35

Yes. And more lately as they are all struggling.. I take your point about the small charities and agree.
(by the way, FannyCornforth, I too am a big fan of Mick Hucknall and Simply Red. I play their music all the time. I love Mick's voice.)

Because of the egg shortage I decided to stock up and then realised eggs aren't really suitable! Do you ever stock up with something and then wonder what to do with it all?

biglouis Thu 24-Nov-22 12:13:37

Ive done this occasionally in business by purchasing a "job lot" of something that does not sell as well as I hoped. Now I do my homework more carefully.

Do you ever watch TV in bed?

To me bed is for sleeping. I dont want a TV in the bedroom because the screens are supposed to stimulate the brain and make it difficult to sleep.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 24-Nov-22 15:05:53

No, I refuse to have a telly in the bedroom as I prefer to read a book before switching the lamp off. On my very rare hotel stays I find it uncomfortable to have to sit up in bed to watch telly, so I often drag a chair out instead,

Do you have a radio by your bedside?

Mollygo Thu 24-Nov-22 16:49:13

Not as such, but I listen to radio programs on my phone at night, so I suppose that’s the same thing.

What’s the weirdest or largest animal you’d allow in your house?

biglouis Fri 25-Nov-22 03:17:08

If I had the space I would be happy to have large lizards, tortoises and snakes as they mostly live in enclosures. I love reptiles.

Do you have music on while you go about your daily business at home? Or background TV?

I have "easy listening" on while working on the computer as it mostly blocks sound from outside and helps me concentrate.

MrsKen33 Fri 25-Nov-22 05:40:21

No not often. I like the sound of silence.

Do you wear Marigold gloves for doing the housework? I never have ,or anyone in my family that I can recall.

henetha Fri 25-Nov-22 11:09:55

No I don't really like them. I'd rather use naked hands and then every evening moisturise them with a nice hand-cream.

Do you eat ice cream in winter?

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Nov-22 11:18:53

No, I don’t often eat it in the Summer either!

Louis when I was studying I found having music on vital. I couldn’t concentrate at all without it. Vince Gurado was a favourite (he did the music for Peanuts)

Do you have a soft spot for a cartoon character?
If something has Snoopy and Woodstock on it I find it hard to resist

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 25-Nov-22 11:49:49

Not a cartoon as such but there is a very sweet, soft plush character in ads for East Midlands railways. He looks like a purple cushion with an attractive and very expressive face. His name is Miles and he looks most appealing as he goes on his adventures. Then, there's always Gromit, of course.

Same question again please,

MrsKen33 Fri 25-Nov-22 12:33:06

Foghorn Leghorn.. just love the name

Same again please

biglouis Fri 25-Nov-22 15:18:49

I like Garfield in the way he refers to his human as his "primary care giver". He reminds me of my nephews ginger stripey cat who miows AT him when he wants something.

Have you put your heating on yet?

Mine is now on for a couple of hours morning and evening. I am not going to freeze while Eon has nearly £1000 of my money.

Mollygo Fri 25-Nov-22 15:34:35

(I missed a chance to say Simon’s cat for my favourite cartoon animal)
Our heating is on for an hour while we get up and shower and from 6.30-9 pm.
I suspect that on days when I work DH puts it on in the afternoon when he gets back from walking the dog, especially if it’s pouring with rain. But like biglouis, I think we have to keep warm. Who is your

Mollygo Fri 25-Nov-22 15:35:26

Forgot.
Same question please.

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Nov-22 16:08:04

Yes, I’ve had it on most days.
With DH’s lung condition he has to keep warm. So it’s non-negotiable.

Louis I think that ginger toms are the most vocal. I had a wonderful chap called Stanley. He went deaf in his dotage, and he had the loudest voice.
DH use to shout at him.

Stanley: (yelling) MIAOW!!

DH: (bellowing) Stanley! Shut up!

Me: (shouting) Leave him alone! He’s alright!

Stanley: MIAOOOOW!!!

Ad nauseam.

Will you be having an alcoholic drink this evening?
I’m currently really into chilled cream sherry

MrsKen33 Fri 25-Nov-22 16:17:37

Yes Friday night is always gin night. Sometimes some others too. !!!!

Do you like the flavoured gins.? I think Rhubarb is my favourite

biglouis Sat 26-Nov-22 08:59:24

I have never liked the after taste of gin - its like drinking perfume!

My favorite spirit has always been vodka.

Do you enjoy fancy cocktails? My favorite is black Russian.

henetha Sat 26-Nov-22 10:49:34

Do martinis count as cocktails? I've never tasted any others. But I like martinis very much.

If you owned a big field what animals would you like to keep in it? I'd like donkeys and alpacas.

Mollygo Sat 26-Nov-22 10:58:34

Goats -though alpacas sound appealing.

Same question.

MrsKen33 Sat 26-Nov-22 11:24:31

Wildflowers. I haven’t the time or inclination to look after animals.

Same again please. A lovely inventive question

FannyCornforth Sat 26-Nov-22 11:30:13

‘Morning all!
That’s exactly what I’d do if I won the lottery. I’d have a modest sized old house with lots of land, and a stream.
As well as miniature goats, donkeys etc; I’d like a magical wood with deer and rabbits and owls.
And some peacocks.
I know this sounds far fetched - but so is my lottery win!

Have you ever won anything?
What have you won?
