Do it in a couple of sentences, but don't tell us the name of the character or the work they appear in.

WWM2 spot on!

My other all time favourite is full of energy and bright ideas. He has a strong moral compass but ends up in no end of scrapes. He has a fondness for bulls eyes which he shares with his loyal band of friends.

The only one I can think of is Jennings, but I’m not sure about the Bulls eyes?

Beautiful romantic country girl, happy to be a dairy maid in Wessex. All hope, trust and spirit ruined by MEN!

Tess of the D’Urbervilles.
She’s my favourite too.

David Copperfields mother?

Got it in one WWM2 - William, the scourge of sweet shop owners! The Martin Jarvis audio books are played sometimes on the radio and I have to stop driving if I'm in the car.

I do read grown-up books too, honest!

The elderly mother/mother-in-law of a rumbustious adult family and the erring wife of one of them. She is a wonderful, unforgettable personality.
