The story went awry as the people didn't read the instructions. But, fortunately....

the instructions began to be transmitted to all their devices and they could not escape them. Unfortunately, none were sent in a language anyone could understand....

Fortunately, improvisation came to the rescue so a new story could be constructed, concerning goats, but unfortunately....

The goats were the 'fainting' goats so they were easy to outrun, but fortunately...
