Granny's in the garden

Granny's in the garden
Down upon her knee
Head down, bum up
Elegant, she
Granny's in the garden
Laying waste to weeds
Hacking back, digging out
Dead things, roots and reeds
Granny's in the garden
Were those weeds or flowers?
Heck this is getting borong
And it's taking hours
Granny's in the bathroom
Drinking something white
Soaking all the aches away
That's it for tonight.grin

I didn't see you lurking in the bushes, gracesmum. You've just described my day. wine

You painted a lovely picture gracesmum smile
I had a gardening day yesterday too.....but it was spent reparing a broken and almost falling over fence. (I wonder what rhymes with drill?)

I did end the day with something white and beginning with 'V' though. grin

Am trying to pluck up energy to get back into the garden, made me smile - it paints a picture of me.

I was all ready to go out and spend the afternoon in the garden then found that the cordless hedge trimmer had lost its charge; so plan B was to sit in a chair with my Kindle and watch the sheets drying in the sun. BUT a thoughtless b**** has started a bonfire so that I've had to bring in the sheets and put away the chair. Guns spiked all round. And it's not as if the offender couldn't see my washing line. angry

It isn't as if we didn't have large green wheelie bins for the disposal of garden waste that won't compost easily! Mine was full of rose and buddleia prunings last week and when the trimmer is charged there will be lots of stuff to put in it.

Now the bonfire's died down but it's left behind a nasty smell. I wonder what he was burning/cremating! hmm

notsothrill or bill?

Mamie Tue 05-Mar-13 15:24:08

Why do I always get a hole in the same place in my gardening gloves (middle finger of right hand)? And why do I always get a nettle sting through it?
All starting today here, gardening, the sound of the first two-stroke in spring and muck-spreading. Poo....

Granny's in the garden
Hear her moan and groan
Feeling pains in muscles
Didn't know she owned
Would I like a tea, dear?
Oh that would be nice
And a shortbread biscuit?
No need to ask twice.
Can I do a bit more
Will the thighs hold out?
Maybe it is getting cold
Too cold to hang about?
But it will be worth it
All this pain and toil
When the border's finished

Granny's in the sitting room,
Looking at the sun,
Trying to differentiate
Which flower's day is done.
Head upon the cushions,
Feet upon the stool,
Granny's called the gardener-
She's an horticultural fool.

smile True, though!

Galen Tue 05-Mar-13 18:02:01

Granny's in the lounge
Feeling very glum
Wishing she' been out
Sitting in the sun.
Rain on next day
Weathermans just said
Reckon that this granny
Will spend the day in bed!

Notso Tue 05-Mar-13 18:06:57

Galen...or a thrill with Bill?

No, I'm too over the hill
Would probably make me ill
I'd have to take a pill
Of that I've had my fill
No longer got the skill

Flowering currant is in flower.
The apricot has a few flowers on it!shock I've spoken sternly to it and told it its too early, it'll get frosted but like everyone else, it takes no notice of mehmm
Wonder HRH has any more luck talking to his plants?

annodomini Fri 08-Mar-13 10:12:34

In my last garden, I planted three dwarf apple trees. When there was a frost one night during blossom time, I rushed out and covered all three with horticultural fleece. They looked like three wee ghosts standing out there, but I did manage to get some apples off them, particularly the Grenadier cooking apple.
