I've been really fed up. DH asked what I wanted for my birthday in about two weeks. I mentioned that I'd lost my rosemary pot which a friend gave me about eight years ago. I think the rain was too much for it. DH sent off for a selection of herbs. They arrived when he was out. None of which I want except the rosemary. He has spent £18 (the bill was in the box) on some really manky herbs which look tired and on their last legs. I feel so ungracious and really rude as I couldn't work up any enthusiasm for the poor things. It has been a long day.

Give them a chance, Stansgran. It's not their fault. With a bit of initial TLC they may well surprise you and after that stage, herbs are pretty good at looking after themselves.

Stansgran if the herbs are really poor quality could you send them back and get a refund?
I'm afraid I have found over the years there is rather less disappointment if one buys one's own birthday presents wink
