j08 you sound about as impressed as my son - I went to see him last week and said 'oh, I've got something for you' and reached into my bag. His little 31 year old face lit up and then crumpled in dismay when I pulled out a summer squash grin

Yes. I would sit and admire the beauty of them. Like those little gourds you can buy in florists this time of the year. Very harvest festival-ish. smile

I am so pleased you asked j08 - I can bore anyone talking about Summer Squash. Not at all like the marrow, a bit similar to a courgette but denser. I slice it or chop it and dry fry. Also great on a BBQ as a slice fits neatly in a bun. Grate it raw in salads or just sit and admire it's beauty. It is so versatile grin

How do you cook squash? Has it got any taste? Is it a bit like the dreaded marrow?

I'm new to this vegetable growing lark. I planted one teeny summer squash this year and it's just amazing. I am so in love with this plant which miraculously seems to produce a beautiful bright yellow squash daily. I was wondering how long will this continue? Likewise for courgettes? Do they just keep producing till the frost arrives? Both have grown incredibly well - hopefully not just because of the weather this year.

I did Google Summer Squash as I've never seen it in the shops and discovered it is a wonder food, nutritionally so now I love it even more smile

Does anyone else grow it?
