My approach is two-fold, no three-fold: first, the weather has to be workable in; second, I do the next most urgent thing next, unless I don't have the energy for that job, in which case (third option) I do something easier.
This approach has worked well for years and years in the town, relatively civilised garden and the country, relatively wild garden, not to mention my allotment when I had one.
So the basic rule is: do it when you think of it or when it looks as if it needs doing. One tends to think in terms of seasonal suitability anyway. That's a good enough calendar for me.
