Yes, I have seen them!

Triffids are mobile. Is it walking around?
You tend to see them near road signs that say 'large plant crossing'

Elegran Sun 11-May-14 16:52:34

It is triffid. Be afraid. Be very afraid!

AlieOxon Sun 11-May-14 16:21:44

And I planted a large cucurbita-type seed to find out what it was; it produced the largest seedling I have ever seen. 5" across the seed leaves.
Does this mean it's a pumpkin or is there something bigger?!

AlieOxon Sun 11-May-14 16:18:59

Told my daughter I had one chili seedling, she said 'good' - but now I have 5......

Next year plant them near some eyesore that you want to cover up (if you have any in your garden. We have loads!)

I know ffinn if only I'd waited a few more days.

If you're in the Midlands in the next couple of weeks Galen I'll do a swap.

ffinnochio Sun 11-May-14 14:41:48

I wish I lived closer! I'd enjoy a garden produce swap session. smile

That's what comes of being impatient, aka wink

Pot-up the unwanted seedlings and give them away. I didn't plant any butternuts this year, but the compost heap is producing lots of seedlings - although they'll probably revert sad

I have sage, parsley, oregano, runner beans tomatillos and tomatoes to exchange!

Galen Sun 11-May-14 14:32:12

I need some courgettes?

Aka Sun 11-May-14 14:20:57

I planted a mixture of squashes, zucchini, pumpkins, butternut, patapans and melons and only a couple appeared to germinate. So last week I trotted off to the garden centre to buy some plugs.

On Friday I noticed some signs of life from the seeds, by Saturday they were pushing out of the soil. Today they are standing tall with good seed leaves.

Now I have 10 pumpkins, 15 assorted zucchini (green, yellow, round, striped) 8 butternut squash, 6 patapans, 5 cucumbers, 3 melons and a few unidentifiable where the grandchildren have removed the labels.

Help!
