Poorly plums

None of fruits stayed on, I'm afraid. We have watered during the dry period but maybe it just wasn't enough. I was full of expectation this year, never having grown tree fruits before. There was plenty of blossom. We live on an estate where the green areas are planted up with fruit trees - mostly apples, which are absolutely laden with immature fruit. We also have a community orchard which is used for educational purposes and the plums there are coming on a treat. whenim can you tell me a bit more about how you prune your tree?

That probably should read "buckets full"

For fruit trees, there is something called the June drop! the trees drop whatever fruit they need to.Not sure what you can do about it, try googling the RHS site?Our apples and plums do it.

My Victoria plum is the same this year. Hardly anything on it, even though there was quite a lot of blossom and it's next to other fruit trees that have been pollinated and have plenty of fruit on them. I gave it a mild pruning today and could only find about a dozen tiny plums on it.

There are all sorts of odd thing plums get. They are notorious for not flowering reliably. Maybe the cold weather earlier on? Some years bucketfuls of them other years none.

Mine has about 2 this year. The first year it had loads, but not since!

did any stay on ? they drop some small fruits to allow the growth of the rest . Did it get dry ?
