Gardening

Truly, madly, propogating!

It's that time of the year again. We may have downsized to the annexe but the garden is increasing in size as a result.

I normally start taking cuttings, splitting and dividing perennials etc., the first week in September but I cleared out the greenhouse this morning and I'm good to go!!

First up will be Box cuttings. Loads of 'em. Followed by Lonicera nitida. I'll be needing some hedging for the new veg garden and refuse to be put off by DH's remarks about 'pushing up daisies' before they'll be any good.

Then the fun stuff....Lavender, salvias, penstemons etc.

I'm also out on the borders with my paper bags collecting seed although I don't sow anything until the spring.

Happy Days grin

Definitely, it's usually mild up here but one year I was complacent and never took any cuttings, nor brought the dahlias in and we had a very bad winter lost a penstemon called sour grapes which I have not seen to replace and a lovely pittasporum plus many more. So lesson learnt.

Eurghh! Too much like hard work. Those days are behind me. I think I actually hate "real" gardening. Give me a good garden centre, or the Suttons catalogue, any day.

Too soon for me, my greenhouses are still full and productive- toms, cucumbers and melons☺

I'd love to be able to do that, jingl but I need hundreds of plants to fill a large space.

I will be sneaking off to the GC as well though blush

I do wish I could do that, some of the plants in the hanging baskets at work could be propogated, but sadly there is nowhere to over winter them sad

Our tomatoes have not turned red yet!
