Arnies back..(mole!!!!)

I was told by an old farmer to sink a metal tube/piece of scaffolding down the last hole the mole has made. Then attach a metal nut or similar to a piece of string and fix it to the top of the pole. When the wind blows it rattles against the pole and sends sound waves back through the tunnel which they don't like. You can give it a quick ding on your way past as well! It worked for us.

When ex DH was a funeral director he used to collect the soil from mole hills for sprinkling on the coffin at the graveside.
On TV the other day I heard it recommended that if you partially sink empty wine bottles upright in the area where moles are active, they will be frightened away by the wind playing a tune across the mouth of the bottles.

A couple of years ago we had a mole problem but DH put two traps down ( end of mole problem.) They ruin both lawn and flowerbeds if you don't stop them.

Don't know whether it is any help Sue1169 but I have a damp bottom garden where the soil is very soft. Moles move in from the farmland. I found two wooden stakes, put the grandchildren's names on them and let them push them in where they thought the next molehill would be. Whichever stake was nearest, that grandchild won a treat (I would have said pocket money but I don't like to encourage gambling!(hmm)) For consolation, I put the marvellous crumbly soil from the molehills onto the border or veg plot. They all disappear after the summer and are much missed by everyone.(sad)

Oh!!! I love moles they are such lovely shiny coated little fellows!! But I can understand your pain.

Our trouble is that we share our planet with all the other species, but aren't prepared to allow them to live out their natural existence so often.
