Can anyone identify this plant please? It has a strong mint-like smell which I don't find very pleasant, and the leaves resemble a small mint. The shrub is slightly woody with the foliage at the base and long flowering stalks which have died off leaving the remainder towards the tip.

I don't know what it is, but what a beautiful colour!

It's a Salvia. Not sure which one though.

Maybe Salvia microphylla 'Pink Blush'.

Looking at the shape of the leaves and flower, it's probably related to the pea family of plants.
Not sure of the actual name.

Looking again, I've changed my mind to agree a type of Salvia. Which is a sage genus so would account for smell.

I agree, it's a salvia. I asked for one to be identified recently and it had the same distinctive sort of flower.

Isn't Salvia sage?

It is in Italian.

Just Googled Salvia Microphylla Pink Blush. That is definitely it! I walked past a garden this morning which had a whole border of it, making a glorious splash of colour. A sprig just happened to be poking through the fence and broke off as I walked by!smile
Many thanks all.

Just checked your thread, Greyduster, and yes, it is the same plant. Sorry I forgot your query. The ones I saw are obviously past their best. Having seen your photos I shall definitely buy some.
