If the roots are coming through they will need repotting, i think! Good luck.

It seems, then, that there is hope for them! I think we will have to repot soon though, as the roots are coming through the bottom of the pots.

In the times gardening supplement this weekend they have a big article about taking cuttings. I am going to have a go at our hydrangea. Not usually lucky with plants but worth a go.

We took lavender cuttings a couple of weeks ago, they are doing well but not as big as yours greyduster. they are in the ( cold) conservatory and we will leave them there over winter. I think they should be repotted, my husband thinks not.

Advance warning: I KILL plants (not on purpose you understand - I am just the very opposite of what green-fingered is - but I would have thought it makes sense to keep them indoors through this autumn /winter just to be on the safe side.

How lovely - lavender is my all time favourite - we do have a tub in the garden which is surviving despite me!

My lavender bush seeds itself - much to the delight of DG (7).
The tiny plants are fine over winter. Since yours ate 'indoor' plants it might be better to acclimatise gradually.

Just a query, but back in July, we were at a church fete and DH won a lavender growing kit (to wit, a little pot, some seeds and a small bag of earth!) on a tombola stall. I scoffed when he said he was going to grow them, and said it was too late for sowing seeds, but he now has eleven bushy little plants about four inches high on a windowsill in the conservatory. Anyone know where we go from here? I don't feel we can put them outside yet, but they need potting on and getting through the winter. Any thoughts?
