Since last summer. I must have missed a couple of teeny potatoes. I’ve eaten some of them but others are inedible .... very hard and a sort of translucent colour.

Wow, lucky you. I planted potatoes for Christmas and they all got blight! Not quite sure what to do with the compost now.

What a discovery! I always think digging up potatoes is like digging for gold.

How long had the plants been there, Nansy? I know that some people plant 'earlies' in about September to have fresh potatoes for Christmas, so maybe yours decided to grow at about the same time. Enjoy! grin

I was sooo excited this morning. I was in my garden on a “poo” run (local cats like using my garden for their business- Mine doesn’t, he’s much too posh!) and noticed that a couple of self planted potato plants looked dead, so I pulled them up and low and behold, there were potatoes under them!! .... I was so thrilled .... they weighed nearly 2 pounds. I didn’t think they’d grow in winter all on their own (I’m not much of a gardener ... obviously!)
