Thanks for your suggestions. I think I'm going to go with laurel and holly as it's really quite shady in that part of the garden.

Laurel do very well in shade, also holly.

Hydrangeas like a woodland sort of shade ( not complete shade) and I have an azalea in a large pot in semi shade.
I was going to say skimmia, but you already have it.
Also have the lemony green conifers in large pots, both in full sun and in some shade, they seem indestructible!
Some bamboos do well in large pots in semi shade too.

Azaleas/ rhododendrons? Camellias?
I also have some Cornus midwinter fire which has brilliant orange/gold stems in the winter.

I read the posts about shrubs to grow in pots in the sun and am going to try a Pieris but also need evergreen, low maintenance shrubs to grow in pots in the shade. I have a skimmia which is doing well but would be grateful for suggestions as I could do with a couple more. Many thanks.
