Busy Lizzie

I bought only one tray of them and they are not growing at all yet in their large pots. I now prefer the New Guinea ones but they are more expensive. Good luck with your plants, hope you have somebody to water while you are away.

I’ve just planted out some desire lavender impatiens which seem to be doing alright in the pots I have put them in, with plenty of flowers out and buds waiting to bloom, so hopefully yours will liven up. I do hope so.

Strangely enough on our various travels to a few Garden Centres this year Busy Lizzie plants have not featured in any,yes the New Guinea varieties are excellent,having bought some ourselves we can vouch for their vigour and excellence............very full of flower.

Makes me think perhaps the problem that attacked the Busy Lizzie in earlier years has not been completely eradicated.

Hope yours continue thriving though Mapleleaf..........such a colourful plant.

I ordered mine from mail order catalogue ,they all died .I've planted phlox in their place and its thriving

Thank you, panache. The ones I’ve bought are a really pretty shade of pink. I’m crossing my fingers that they continue to thrive.

I bought 20 plants for £3 in Tesco on Tuesday. They are still in the greenhouse at the moment but are looking very healthy.

I’ve bought New Guinea busy Lizzies at the beginning of the summer in previous years and then taken cuttings - root in water in a week or so. Then later in summer, I’ll have a lot more. I managed to keep one plant alive indoors through last winter, and took cuttings earlier so now have a number of small plants. But my New Guinea ones seem to get some kind of root rot disease when they get bigger.
I’ve also got some of the normal ones with a double white flower, like a rose, that I’ve kept going for years by taking cuttings. I “stole” a few cuttings originally?
