Someone has kindly given me a huge chrysanthemum in a pot for my birthday. I am not sure what to do with it - do I keep it in its pot? Should I plant it in the garden? Will it survive the winter either indoors or out? It is huge! Help!

What type of pot has it come in and are there any instructions on the label? It should be fine outside. I always plant cryanths outside once they have finished flowering. Most survive.

So do I. They seem quite happy outside and usually flower again the next year.

Thanks for your help. There is no label on the pot or any instructions. But it is very big and a mass of pink flowers. I think I might leave it its pot, as it is doing so well there, and then plant it out and take a chance for next year when the flowers start to drop off.

Yes. Wait until it has finished flowering, cut it back and plant it outside. It will probably reward you next year.
