Fresh green and beautiful!

Out for a walk and suddenly hit by the scent and fresh green sight of this field (it seems a bit dry in the photo, but I can assure you its lush!),

Such a sharp peak of joy for a second or two, and had to share smile

Yes I love the smell of freshly mown grass. We have 2 large lawns which get cut regularly and I always like the smell of freshness

Beautiful. God's own country eh?

And that smell is made up of chemicals which heal the wound of the cut grass, produce anti-biotics and even alert some bugs to come and feed because the grass "thinks" it's being eaten by a predator.

Isn't nature amazing?

I'd love to smell it - sadly can't any more due to anosmia sad

Yes!

Me too Willow to some extent since a viral infection last year. It’s dispiriting. And now we have the further worry about it as described in the newspapers yesterday. I wish I hadn’t read the report!

Yes - I picked DGS up from school on Tuesday and took him across to the playing field. The grass had just been cut and the smell was lovely. That, plus the sun, the birdsong and the blossom on the cherry trees, really made me smile to myself ?

I love the smell of freshly cut grass. M&S used to do an oil burner fragrance of cut grass which I loved but it’s discontinued now.

Yes, beautiful. Also the smell of the land following rain on a warm day.

It reminds me of my days at school. The smell and distant drone of the mower were soporific.

That's called petrichor.

Did you always know that, or, like me, find out from James O'Brien on LBC yesterday grin

It’s been raining since I took this photo, but I like the weather changes that we go through here.

Evie...it certainly feels like it some days (so long as we don’t mention brexit sshhhh?)

Shysal...your description was so apt, I could feel myself breath out and relax as I read it!

Well there are grey clouds gathering overhead so I don’t think i’ll be going strolling through fields today!!

yggdrasil I live in New Zealand so no BBC for me unfortunately.

I am something of a Trivia nut though and used to be in a team which met every month until this year when the quizmaster retired. You pick up a lot of useless useful information from Trivia.
