Skimmia

The garden that I have inherited has quite a few of these dotted around and they all look yellow-leaved and dried up. I am tempted to simply dig them up and put something else in as I have come to the conclusion that the garden is simply not right for them. Any thoughts?

I would definitely ditch them. But then, I'm not too keen on Skimmia anyway tbh. It will be more fun planting something you have chosen.smile

I think they like acid soil; they grow really well in my garden. Prefer shade as well; I have one in a pot that's out of the shade and it's not glossy green like the rest. I love Skimmia; the flowers smell lovely.

Agree with the others. Acid soil and shade needed.

You could move one to a pot with acid soil compost, if it is not too huge. It would be nice for a splash of winter colour near the door, with some cyclamen.

Otherwise, I'd ditch them. Go with plants that love your soil and conditions, they will be much happier.
