I have been treating myself to some rare philodendrons, they are doing very well standing on pebbles over water. I ordered another today and believe it will need re-potting quite soon after receipt. I am thinking of making my own mix, just wondering if there might be a suitable commercial blend before I gather the components together

A brief google comes up with Miracle Gro compost.

I have decided to use what the plant wants ie peat with drainage from perlite. Thanks esspee, for looking.

My new rare plants look great and happy so won`t need any increase in pot size for a bit but I have ordered the moss poles and will get the peat locally. Florida ghost and black cardinal are two of them, my treat to myself. I have the perfect light conditions in this house. The plants are standing on pebble beds with water, to keep their surroundings humid and look better by the day
