Meant to add, thanks for the link annodomini

Yes, I've noticed it's now on BBC Scotland.

Why hide it away and not make it national? I know the Beechgrove gardeners have to contend with the Scottish climate but I am sure people up and down the UK who love their gardens found lots of the chat and tips very useful - and entertaining.

What is the BBC playing at? I'm off to see if we can get BBC Scotland on the TV.

Floradora9 Wed 17-Jul-19 18:12:28

only going to be on the BBC Scotland chanel ( think you can get it on Freeview )which in one week recorded no viewers for one programme .

Gran2028 Wed 17-Jul-19 13:18:27

Oh yes...only BBC Scotland..in their wisdom... would cancel 6 weeks of a gardening programme (the only scotland based gardening programme there is) in the main growing season.... never mind that we already have a shorter growing season than the rest of the uk..
Well done the BBC....

I am another fan , they did say at the end of the last broadcast that they would be back later in the summer

chelseababy Wed 17-Jul-19 11:40:52

It has an enforced break due to BBC having to cut costs - there was a campaign and an item on Points of View. Be glad to see it back.

Resurgam123 Wed 17-Jul-19 07:59:41

Yes I was wondering where Beechgrove had gone. About time to get it back.
I looked to see where on the map "Beechgrove" was it is very far north. The North west coast. They need a very different program to us.

Oh I am glad to hear it is coming back! It's a bit late in the year though, isn't it?

I'll miss Jim McColl and his knowledge and lovely ways. We also like Chris Beardshaw, so it's a shame he won't be appearing.

Thanks for the info, all.

merlotgran Thu 11-Jul-19 20:46:07

Chris Beardshaw is missing as well. We like BG and look forward to its return.

I don't think it's anything to do with Wimbledon. It's been off air for a few weeks.

SirChenjin Thu 11-Jul-19 20:35:34

McColl - sorry! Who’s Jim Baxter? confused

SirChenjin Thu 11-Jul-19 20:34:33

It’s coming back smile Jim Baxter (I think that’s his name, I’m not an avid watcher) retired recently so it will be missing a familiar face sadly

Blinko Thu 11-Jul-19 19:20:05

I'm sure I've seen the Beechgrove Garden in the listings fairly recently, pre Wimbledon. Obviously everything stops for that...

annodomini Thu 11-Jul-19 19:10:41

The next episode is scheduled for Thursday July 25th at 8pm.

Maybe Blinko, as everything seems to stop for Wimbledon, but we thought the series started earlier in the year. It hasn't been on for a while now - or has it?

wildswan16 Thu 11-Jul-19 19:01:36

Apparently it is returning at the end of July.

Blinko Thu 11-Jul-19 18:58:41

Couldn't be Wimbledon, could it?

Day6 Thu 11-Jul-19 18:57:34

OH and I enjoy our garden and make a point of watching Gardeners' World. We used to record Beechgrove Garden too. I love the presenters, their chemistry and their knowledge.

Why is it not on our screens any more? Anyone know? We feel we have lost our lovely Scottish friends.
