Is this just grass mixed in the boarders? There's an awful lot of it.

Looks like grass to me.
It's not chives, is it?

I don't know, as we recently moved house.

Could it be Grape Hyacinths? They spread everywhere in my garden and look a bit like that.

Possibly snowdrops or grape hyacinths Nibble a bit of it, you will taste the onionyness if it chives. Waiting a couple of months could reveal flowers, which will be a clue, or you could dig one up and see whether it has a bulb/corm or ordinary grass roots.

Wait and see!

DH reckons this is couch grass. It spreads quickly and will take over your borders. Pull a bit up, and if it has roots like this it is couch grass. You can keep digging it out and it will eventually weaken. The best solution is to paint the foliage with Roundup weed killer. That way you prevent destroying anything else.

If it’s hyacinths or snowdrops they will have bulbs, otherwise couch grass.

I don’t know what it is, I just had to say what a great name you have chosen ?

DH and I have been out in the garden today and dug up a little of the clump of grass in the boarder and bedding area
and it does indeed have a little bulb, and there is so many of them! Is there a way of controlling them?

Elegran Sat 04-Jan-20 18:48:01

Digging up half of them and giving them away?

Elegran Sat 04-Jan-20 18:50:29

Digging up half of them and giving them away? Wait until you have had the pleasure of seeing them flower, then dig up clumps of them, thin them out and keep some to replant. Then pot up the rest and give them to a charity shop.

MiniMoon
Please look seriously at using Roundup.
10s of millions of dollars have been paid out to victims in the US who have developed life threatening diseases through using this product.
There is a mound of evidence online.
