Tuber or Weed

Been out in the garden this morning to dig up the tubers for potting up and a few Oxalis that I didn't want, and the roots were exactly the same, so it at least it solves the problem of what these plants are.

As I've been digging over the bed, they are mixed in with the grape hyacinth. I don't want any of them, but getting rid of them is proving a bit of a problem.

We've got crocosmia in our small back garden and I like it.
The bright orange flowers last for months and the foliage gives a good background for smaller plants in front.
I cut it back in the autumn and the spiky leaves are coming through now.

Good idea Hetty58, I'm going to pot them up and see.

If you're not sure, pot them up and see what they look like in the summer. We have pretty pink Oxalis with roots like that.

Crocosmia Lucifer is lovely!

Some Crosomia are very nice, sold by plant centres, and have larger flowers than Monbretia, which grows wild.

Looks a bit like Crocosmia to me. Used to be called Montbretia. If it likes you it’s a bit like a weed!
