The heads of my daffodils and beautiful narcissis are too heavy

Bigger blooms making them top heavy. They're still beautiful.
Any sweet-scented Jonquils about ? I haven't seen any for ages.

The ones in the photo look like doubles. Very pretty, but top-heavy. Years ago, I planted a patch in my lawn (well, under it, actually, and it took a lot of effort!) There were various colours and shapes, but all of them were beautiful double blooms, some even double doubles. They come up every year, but every year some of the heads have done just what yours have, and have to be cut off and put into short vases. It is because the stems are OK for ordinary single daffodil blooms, but too slender for thesefancy ones if the winds blows them about.

They would probably do better if they were surrounded by other plants to grow through for support. Perhaps you could either move them or plant something near them that would be bushy enough to hold them up and the right height to have the flowers hovering nicely above? I can't do that in the lawn!

They are indeed doubles and are planted in very large and deep pots that were placed in among low growing conifers for colour. Others are in a large and static planter on the sheltered patio. Patio is enclosed on four sides. There was a wind a couple of nights ago which may have had an ill affect but it was nothing extreme. The stems do seem very long for the weight of the blooms so it wouldn’t take much to do damage.

I just have a patio and also bark chippings with low growing and spreading conifers and perrenials planted through a very tough membrane. Pots are my only way to grow bulbs.

Some of mine are doubles and often bend. Others bend during the day if they're dry but recover when it's cooler. I go round and pick off any that are touching the ground before the slugs eat them. That way I get a display outside and one inside in a vase to enjoy.

I have some cut Tulips in a vase which I bought as closed buds. They have opened as doubles - in fact more than double:they're like roses! They are far too heavy for the stems but make a very interesting arrangement. Sorry if this isn't relevant, but I thought I'd share the picture anyway.

My beautiful Irises have done the same - so I have cut them and put them in a large vase. They look amazing on my kitchen window sill.

I moved my double tulips to a taller vase in the end which came up to just under their chins. It wasn't as nice as before. They're dead now. Today is my shopping day, and I hope to pick up so.e new flowers for the house especially as it's our wedding anniversary.

Coolgran … I think it's a combination of top heavy and lack of water.
Of course the wind may have been the last straw.
Don't forget they aren't woody plants, so it's only water in the stem that keeps them upright in the first place.
I find bulbs in pots need almost as much water as summer bedding.

A good drink helped mine a lot. That an an iron support I’m cutting those that have bent just below the neck. In a vase I use artificial eucalyptus to support them.

I got the same sort of tulips again, this time red and they opened out with those huge, heavy, double or multiple heads.

One day last week I was lazy and didn't change the water and check them, and the flowers opened out so much that three of them had flopped over with the weight and snapped the stems. I put them in a small vase, not wanting to lose them.

They really need to go in a vase up to their chins, which I am not keen on.

I've had 2 lots of daffodils bought, both bunches opened slightly then just died off, never opened fully.
