NfkDumpling Wed 06-May-20 13:21:42

Can you let us know what develops please Bluebell. I’m really curious now.

Ginger?

MaizieD Wed 06-May-20 12:34:38

I think it's most likely to be iris, too.

If you're lucky you may get some flowers this year - if you're quick!

My wonderful partner has recently planted a variety of Lily that has a rhizome and says that it's possibly a Lily. When I saw the leaves I was thinking it could be.

MiniMoon Tue 05-May-20 18:45:41

My husband says it's a rhizome of some sort, possibly iris, but...

Google assistant offers lemongrass.

photo from google

It'll be a nice surprise when it flowers!

NfkDumpling Tue 05-May-20 18:30:26

That last photo looks more like an iris type bottom to me.

Baggs Tue 05-May-20 18:29:40

My first thought was iris.

BlueBelle Tue 05-May-20 18:26:49

I thought montbretia Septimia but I have a lot of them and they don’t look the same tuber at all
But thanks for trying

Septimia Tue 05-May-20 18:22:39

Montbretia? Although they're a type of crocosmia, I think. But I'm sure our montbretia have more of a tuber.... Otherwise, yes, iris is a good bet.

BlueBelle Tue 05-May-20 16:18:04

Perhaps this is clearer

BlueBelle Tue 05-May-20 16:10:24

Thank you callistemon
No not gladis I ve got some of them already in and they are a bulb theses are more of a tuber but thanks for trying again Cavesoman again crocosmia are a round bulb these have an oblong tuber perhaps I can get a better pic of the actual root I ll try

cavewoman Tue 05-May-20 15:58:02

Crocosmia?

Callistemon Tue 05-May-20 15:43:20

Are they gladioli?

Could be iris, but mine are just flowering now - if you transplant them and they are gladioli they should flower a bit later.

BlueBelle Tue 05-May-20 15:36:31

I ve found an old pot of plants that have never to my knowledge flowered no wonder poor things are totally pot bound so with a lot of difficulty I ve managed to part the matted ‘coconut matting’ and got a load of individual plants to be replanted somewhere in the garden but what are they do you think they are some kind of iris? The greenery is joined onto a tuber like root
Any ideas gratefully received
