Petunias

Personally, I feed bedding plants that are in hanging baskets and tubs at least twice a week from as soon as they're planted up. Bedding plants need to extract a lot of nitrogen from the soil to enable them to continue to grow and flower in such small, compact spaces and so you have to replace that nitrogen with an appropriate liquid feed. I planted my baskets up in late March, kept them under cover until mid April, feed them twice a week at least, and they're in full flower now.

Tomatoes? Not so good!

It's a really funny year for seeds and plants, paddyanne.
We've never had so many failures.

I've lost a lot of young plants ,bizzy lizzies ,petunias and my begonias are looking quite poor .I've not done anything different from other years so haven't aclue whats going on.The one success I have is my Honesty ,bought two small plants off e-bay last year and they have done really well ,the garden isn't looking great though .
Thanks to the gran on here who found the Honesty for me as it was hard to get .

It's still early, meteorological summer only started on Monday.

I can't see the word petunia without thinking of that song.

I have some Million Bells, tiny petunias, that are now planted in baskets.
How often should I feed them? I don't want to neglect them, and just wondering whether once a week is enough

I bought 72 Tidal Wave Petunia tiny plug plants from Thompson and Morgan back in the spring. I have never seen such small ones! I patiently nurtured them and planted them out after the last frost. They have only been flowering a couple of weeks, but are now romping away, especially in my new 5-tier planter. Be patient, I am sure they will flower soon. Good luck!

Ours have only just started flowering. They have been in the conservatory since DH bought them. I had to wait patiently until the began opening up, to see what colours he had bough.

They'll flower, just give them a chance. I've never known a petunia not to, then you'll have them continuously throughout the summer.
I remember having two large hanging baskets of all purple/blue ones and the scent of them by the front door was out of this world.

Can you see any buds forming? I wouldn’t give up on them yet.
