Gransnet Open Gardens

This weekend should have been our village open gardens - sadly cancelled.

Having been part of this previously we know that it is hard work over the two days but also enormous fun.

We have had the front garden redesigned recently but dh (particularly) has worked very hard to make the back garden look good!

The event also makes a lot of money for our local children's hospice which will, sadly, miss out this year.

I thought it might be nice to have a Gransnet Open Gardens event so here are some of our plants. Watch out, I could go mad!!

?. Great idea. Mine is going rustically rusty but I quite like that

MiniMoon Thu 25-Jun-20 13:17:13

Marmight, we have one of those owls. Ours is worse for wear sadly. She lost both her eyes. DGS 2 donated two of his marbles so that she could see again, but I haven't got around to glueing them in yet.

Marmight and Whitewave....very impressive mosaics.?

I love the owl.?

I suggested our Open Gardens went on line and we had a just giving page. It was poo poo'ed as 'nobody knows how to do it!' I dont know how to do it either but I bet your average random teenager would!

This is the one - a table top- we did a few years back now. I enjoyed doing it and quite fancy doing another, but can’t think where it could go.

Thanks seacliff. I have to rein myself in every so often otherwise it becomes a bit naff ?. But, they do detract from the lack of weeding. Like you I prefer the casual look, unlike my neighbour who I swear cuts the grass with nail scissors grin. I got the owl at Chelsea last year and the hare is my first tentative effort at mosaic.
Our village garden open day is going on line this year. Not quite the same as seeing and smelling but needs must in these strange times

All the gardens are so different and interesting.

Marmight I love your garden ornament/sculpture.

Well I’m buggered!!

Generous gardener and the pink flower is Clematis Lady Diana. On the right hand side.
On the left hand side is a hop.

Purpledaffodil Wed 24-Jun-20 17:02:23

Whitewave what do you grow over your arch? I planted Generous Gardener Rose one side and a pink clematis the other side last summer but neither show any signs of climbing high?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 24-Jun-20 16:09:17

purple we have that arch I’ll take a photo of it, you can see ours is almost completely covered.

It is boiling out there. I’m showering one of the baby seagulls that is left with cold water as he is in full sun and no shade. He loves it and sits in the puddle preening himself after.

Purpledaffodil Wed 24-Jun-20 15:57:25

Wonderful pictures ladies. Love those great views beyond as well. Ours is suburban garden with no view at all?

lemongrove Wed 24-Jun-20 15:08:52

lemongrove, yes honestly the garden IS getting too much for us now. OH loves cutting grass on his ride on mower, but is no good at weeding, and we have awful heavy clay so hard to keep nice, which gets me down. We are making it mainly grass and trees. It has been lovely during lockdown though. I would actually love a low maintenance courtyard garden.

You’re doing the right thing, keep it simple for an easy life.
If you do move, a courtyard garden can look wonderful with all sizes of pots in groupings.?

Dragonfly beautiful!
I will try to post a photo of our wildlife haven.

Just nipped out and took mine.

Marmight Wed 24-Jun-20 14:14:54

Some more ....

So glad I have a garden to potter in during lock down although Im pretty good at killing things off!

MiniMoon Wed 24-Jun-20 13:49:52

We haven't much garden, just a shrub border and a lot of pots/containers. DH created a little pond in a circular container from Errington Reay pottery. We live near the pottery and DH looks in from time to time to see if they have any bargains. This one was half price due to misfiring.

Not much colour in my garden this year, due to garden centres closed. We usually have an abundance of bedding plants and hanging baskets. We tried buying online, but the plants were diseased.?

The only thing which has grown well are my herbs and strawberries.

The pictures were taken at night.

Amazing gardens and great photography too!
No wonder so many house movers are looking for gardens now as top priority.

merylStreep how pretty your pots are, such a wonderful splash of colour

Namsnanny Wed 24-Jun-20 00:16:33

Lovely flowers Lucca! Lucky you having a green fingered friend, who doesn't mind picking the flowers from her garden.

I sometimes struggle with picking as I love seeing them in their original location.

Namsnanny Wed 24-Jun-20 00:12:54

Such beautiful gardens, and all so different!

I've posted this elsewhere but they are still flowering......just!

lemongrove Tue 23-Jun-20 22:23:52

Some of you have the most lovely views from your gardens.
seacliff what a spacious garden you have, is it hard work?
