What a disappointment!

Same problem as you Shysal and I will dig them all out and compost them when the ground is soft enough. I seem to have potatoes with all foliage and few potatoes. They are so cheap to buy I won’t bother again.

Whats going on with seeds?
Is it old or bad quality?

Had very little luck with seeds this year. I had a packet of tomato seeds in an order before garden centres reopened. £3:99 and there were 7 microscopic seeds of which 3 grew. ?

Saw those drummer alliums in plenty at RHS Wisley on Saturday. They did look almost alien rising out of other plants so I would have been disappointed too if I’d nurtured them.

I planted those Drummer Alliums thinking they would be dainty ! They are gangly and not attractive

I planted alliums in containers last autumn. Not a single bulb has produced so much as a leaf. . I wonder if mice or birds dug them up.

We had some packets of seeds that had sat around for quite a while, so we planted them with no great expectations. One lupin grew. We nurtured it and it grew taller and healthy. Eventually I planted it in the garden. It wilted a bit, but some water cured that. Two days later the rabbits had eaten all the leaves off it! It now has a cut-off lemonade bottle around it and there are signs that it is sprouting, so fingers crossed that it recovers.

We are having a competition in my WI to grow the tallest sunflower and gave every member (92 of them!) six seeds at the start of the lockdown. Only three of mine germinated in the pots on my window sill. When I replanted them in larger outdoor pots I dropped one snapping the stalk so had two left. I carefully staked them, watered them in the last mini heatwave, talked to them and they began to thrive. Then on Friday a gust of wind blew one plant over so now i have only one left!

The sole survivor urgently needs a taller stake so I need to cobble something together and knowing my luck, I will somehow destroy this last one!

Yes, every year! One this time is I carefully scattered Limanthes seed in the cracks between some paving stones. There was plenty of soil. Not one came up. Lots of bind weed or thistle seedlings though

Bought two packets of flower seeds at the start of lockdown to grow on the kitchen window sill. They germinated really quickly, I pricked them out into larger containers, and one by one they died off, not one made it!

Yes, we ought some Guava seeds from Portugal, we have successfully grown 3 of the 5 seeds into Portuguese buttercups.

And...the acer seeds we planted have grown into ‘pigweed’.
