It is a spotted laurel and I'd probably get rid of it if I had young children around.

Thanks Kittycat. I'll let my daughter know as she has young children who like to help in the garden. smile

Yes it is a variegated Laurel. I have one in my garden, the occasional leaf does sometimes turn black. It also gets tiny green flowers and red berries. But it is toxic so if you have young children be careful. When I cut it back I have to have my arms covered and wear gloves otherwise it causes a rash.

Hi, When my daughter moved into her house this large shrub was in her garden, she says it has never flowered and wondered what it is, as unfortunately it's developed some black leaves over the last year and she's hoping it can be saved. Many thanks
