When I took over my allotment end of last year I inherited a lot of fruit bushes gooseberries, raspberries, strawberry bed, black currents and what I was told was a Joy Berry I ve never heard of it so was interested to see the fruit which look like a cross between a small gooseberry and a large black current
I ve googled it and can’t find anything similar or anything by that name
Any ideas will be gratefully received I hope it’s edible as I ve tried it today and it s not as sour as a gooseberry but not very sweet either not a taste o recognise

Are the stems thorny like gooseberries or smooth like blackcurrants?

Do you have a friendly local garden centre you could ask?

Gooseberries and black currants can be crossed as they are related. Yours could be a Jostaberry.

Jostaberries, wish I had them in my garden lovely.
We won't be getting any redcurrants, DH hasn't covered them and the birds are eating them as they ripen. ?
