Sweetpeas, finally.

I plant sweet peas in the autumn in the greenhouse and overwinter them there. They need a deep root run so use deep pots and keep just damp over the winter.

Im not sure. I suppose it would be worth a try.

At the moment the area they were in is being used as a dust bath by the sparrows, which is lovely to see.

Are they sown indoors or outside? Do you have to keep watering all through the winter/spring?

Would it be feasible to grow another batch?

Mine have flowered, finished and been dug up!

Sown last autumn

I’ve always planted sweet peas, this year mainly from a free gift with a magazine. Only just started picking but the living room smelt lovely last night. Most years I choose carefully but happy to have achieved anything this time around. Mainly dark colours with a few seeds of lighter ones from last year. I wonder if we will all be a bit less picky in future?

Oh, how lovely - my favourite flowers! Do wish I’d thought to order some seeds. They’d have had to go in a big pot with a ‘wigwam’ of canes (titchy garden and no bed space) but I’ve grown them like that once before.

My zinnias from seed are doing really well but not as pretty as SPs, and no scent ?.
