What plants?

I have 5 raised beds in my garden and I want to know what to put in them to make them look colourful, I tried wildflowers in a few last year and I loved them but they had these horrible cabbage looking tall plants in that completely strangled all the lovely poppies and cornflowers etc. Can you buy specific wildflower seeds so I can avoid those horrid ones. I really want to go wild but I put too many seeds in last year too, how do I know when enough is enough when sewing?

Most of the wildflower mixes sold today are excellent but perhaps perennial flowers might suit you better as once established they come up every year.
If you need some bright splashes of colour right now Lidl are advertising 10 primroses for £2.99.

You can buy packets of individual wild flowers. Why not plant some perennials then sprinkle annual seeds each year? You may find that they self seed too.

I’d use annuals that create a drifting look rather than trying for wild flowers. Cosmos, Californian Poppies, Cornflowers, Love in. Mist, Clary and Calendula would fit the bill.
Also ornamental grasses and foxgloves dotted around for structure.

Bees Seeds do several mixed flower carpets, with the seeds all ready on tissue paper. I know it costs more but may be of interest.

I have been looking today and I am doing strawberries in one and some veg in another then I will get a few of the wild flower carpets to suppress any weeds, they look amazing. Thanks all.

Califonian poppies are so easy to grow they grow themselves and look so wildly bright and go on for ages I ve got orange and cream ones and they have nice ferny leaf
If you wanted some seeds Scentia I d happily send you some

I’d agree hardy annuals as mentioned in previous posts are the way to go. They self seed readily and are not as weedy as wildflower mixes which are difficult to maintain year after year.
