Philodendron cuttings not beginning to root

I wouldn't use rooting powder but would change the water every few days. Is there a leaf joint below the water level? If not, cut off the lowest leaf and ensure the joint is below the water. If the bottom of the cutting begins to rot, make a fresh cut into sound tissue and return to the water.
Perhaps the woolly leafed cutting would do better in vermiculite? I have rooted African violets in that way but my MIL was always successful with water. Could you post a picture?

About three weeks ago I was given some cuttings which i was advised to put into water and wait for them to root. They are still sitting there, looking happy, but no sign of any roots. Would your advice to be to purchase some rooting powder, please?

I have also been given cuttings for a trailing plant (no reference) which has woolly leaves as per African violet. It has blue flowers when happy. These, too, are sitting in water and show no sign of growing feet! I am loathe to lose them because the person who gave them to me has moved and I do not know how to replace. Any tips, please? Thank you.
