Angel’s Trumpet

I have a photograph of myself standing under one of those enormous flowers in Australia and was laughing, saying that if it fell off it would cover/ suffocate me. It was a massive one.
Lovely smell.

I had a beauty in the garden but got rid of it when my little grandkids came to stay after their daddy died they were only 4 and 6 and I just didn’t want to take any chances but they are a beautiful flower

Mini moon- as I said one of my sisters patients gave two plants to her.
The lady had it growing all over her garden, self seeding everywhere.
She told my sister it had a lovely scent and white flowers I think. And it was a big plant.

We had the most beautiful datura (devil's trumpets), in a big pot in the conservatory of our last house. It had the most wonderful evening scent very heady. We didn't have any trouble with it, neither did the dog, who would sleep on the sofa underneath it.
Wear gloves when you handle it. Water and feed it once a week and keep it in a sunny spot. It can grow into a big plant, ours grew into a beautiful tree.
My DH thinks he pruned it in early spring, but he can't quite remember. ?

It’s in my fenced off bit near the greenhouse, no dogs allowed.
Grandkids all teenagers, not interested at all in what’s in the garden.

Should have been "it could be brugmansia. That and daturas are not related " Blasted mouse is sensitive to the least tremor.

Isn't it datura? - used by shamans to put them into a trance and produce hallucinations. Or it could be BruBrugmansia and daturas are not directly related to one another (they are listed in two separate genus). The brugmansia is a woody tree, while the datura is an herbaceous shrub.

Please be very careful all parts of angels trumpets are poisonous can cause lots of bad problems including hallucinations and rapid heart beat and I think it can be deadly not sure you ll have to google it
Make sure any grandkids don’t go near it not sure about pets
