Black Fly on Tomatoes

Never had this DaisyAnne in many years of growing. I don’t know how long you’ve been spraying? I can only suggest keep at it, don’t forget under the leaves too. Very annoying though, good luck.

About every half hour since I spotted them Jaxjacky I haven't had them before but I am so determined to try and get rid of them. They have been doing so well too.

I rub them off with my gloved hands and also shoot them off with the hose on it's most 'squirty' setting.

Also, if you grow nasturtiums alongside them, the black fly tend to go for them instead.

Hi .. This year I planted Poached Egg plants and Marigolds around the Tomatoes and they have remained clean and healthy !...I think these little plants attract Hover flies which in turn eat the bugs ..

I have black fly on my Sambuca and a few on the Broad Beans although this doesn't affect the bean pods or the beans themselves. I've given up with spraying, never use chemicals as this n turn affects to the birds and actually, the ants and ladybirds are doing a grand job of eliminating the black fly. Everything has to live and eat somewhere, why interfere with the balance of nature?
