We grew strelitzia from seed that we brought back from Tenerife and they grew into huge healthy leafy plants that got bigger and bigger each year. After 15 years, with not one flower ever appearing, we gave them away to a local nursery. They never flowered for him either. I think you have to have perfect natural growing conditions for them to succeed.
